How to set up a simple e commerce site with shopping cart?

I'm a beginner looking for a basic solution to create a simple e commerce site with shopping cart.  At this point just 10 items to sell, with photos and descriptions.  Any pointers to software that can be used here and possibly tutorials would be great.  I started creating site with Joomla, just fyi.  Hope something will work with it or beside it.
