I do event invites and sometimes need to send a single email to about 150 friends. My current host doesn't permit more than 100 an hour.

Mailchimp is really buggy. For this reason, I don't use them anymore. Somwhat of a nightmare, actually. Okay, you've answered my question, thanks!

The reply from SegFish is correct.  There is a limit of 50 people per email.  I recommend using a free service like MailChimp.  MailChimp's free tier should be enough for your 150 invites. You're able to design your email and then send it without affecting your current hosting service.  Sending mass emails to a list is often seen as spam and can affect both your domain's reputation and performance.

Hmm, is it different with the shared hosting plan? When I spoke with someone on the phone at inmotion, they said it was 50 per email and 250 per hour. Im not a heavy user, but that would mean that i would have to break up my private event invite list into 3 lists every time, though at least i would be able to send out invites to everyone in a span of a few minutes rather than some recipients getting a delayed invite.

Hello and thanks for asking. It's unlimited, but we recommend using software that allows users to opt out. VPS/Dedicated users with cPanel can change this setting in WHM.
