I've deleted my autoresponder, but it's still sending out autoresponses and I'm still getting hundreds of bouncebacks per day

I created and activated an email autoresponder for the time I was on vacation. No problem. When I returned home on June 14, I deleted it. However, four days later, it's still pumping out autoresponses and I'm still having my inbox clogged with hundreds of bouncebacks a day from spam emails, political fundraisers, etc. How long does it take for an autoresponder to deactivate? Is this normal? I simply deleted it as your documentation directed, but did I need to do something else? Please help fix this annoying issue. Thanks.

Hello,

I'm sorry to hear about the issue you're experiencing. Are you absolutely sure it's your Auto-responder sending mail? If an email account was compromised, someone else could be using your account to send mail, so it may be worth it to change the account password.
Also, is it possible that an auto responder was set up in more than one place (cPanel and email client?) Once the auto-responder is removed in cPanel, your account should stop sending responses immediately.
