Red Cross Comes to InMotion Hosting

This summer, InMotion Hosting welcomed the Red Cross and their mobile donation center to our Virginia Beach office for the 2nd year in a row for a local blood drive. The Red Cross collected 12% fewer donations than needed to sustain a sufficient supply during the month of June. This was one of their largest shortfalls in a single month in recent years. We wanted to help them replenish their supply so we invited team members and members of our community to come out and help save lives. 

Did you know that approximately 29,000 units of red blood cells are needed every day in the U.S.? Blood donations are used for patients in need of surgery, cancer treatment and transfusions for blood loss from traumatic injuries. The Red Cross provides approximately 40% of our nation’s blood and blood cell components from its generous donors. Although it is estimated that 6.8 million people in the U.S. donate blood each year, that is only about 3% of those who are eligible to donate. Each donation has the potential to save up to 3 lives, so every person who donates really helps!
