smtp.domainname.com vs mail.domainname.com
Category: General Information
Is there a way to change the outgoing mail server for a domain to smtp.name.tld instead of mail as the subdomain? I have a client with a lot of e-mail accounts on another server and that's how their mail clients are all done, so it would be easier to move them to Inmotion if this was possible.

Hello timatidg, Great question about the outgoing mail server name. In your cPanel account, you can create a CNAME in the Simple DNS Editor in cPanel for smtp. When you create the CNAME you would enter the following information in the fields provided: Name: smtp CNAME domainname.com You may need to allow 4-24 hours for DNS to propagate before that new smtp CNAME is fully functional. Please let us know if you have any additional questions or need further assistance. Regards, Christi N. |
