Why did my email stop working?

When I signed up for inmotion hosting, it asked for my email address, which I provided: info@[mydomain.com]. I had set up the email account with Gmail when I was still using wordpress.com for my website. Now I am building my site with wordpress.org.

After purchasing hosting here for [mydomain.com] and registering with said email, I am no longer able to receive email at that account. Did I screw it up somehow by doing this?

Right now, several email accounts are registered via Gmail using mydomain.com, and none of them are able to receive emails since I purchased hosting here.

I can't change the email address associated with my inmotion account because it sends a confirmation email to the registered email address (info@mydomain.com), and I can't get emails there for unknown reasons. I am at a complete loss for how to remedy this situation.

Hi John,

Thanks for posting your question. I'm more than happy to assist you today. When you point a domain here at InMotion, and your email was previously routed through gmail, you need to set up the correct MX records, otherwise it will not function. Here's an article on how to do so:
