cannot remove redirects need this resolved immediately!

I recently upgraded to a VPS from a shared server. On the old server, I ended up getting suspended due to overage of resources. There were redirects in place for those and they point to an unavailable.html page not hosted on my server. I have attempted to remove the redirects on CPanel, but it does nothing. Some visitors report they can't get on to my site and are redirected to this page. I have attempted to contact support and was chatting with someone but then after asking for those to be removed, the chat was ended and nothing was done about it. I need to have this resolved.

Hello bayinhoundales, Thank you for your question. I am sorry to hear you are having issues with removing redirects from within your cPanel. The normal process is defined below:

Removing redirects from your cPanel

  1. Log into your cPanel dashboard
  2. Look for the Domains category and click on Redirect icon.
  3. You will be presented with a list of redirects. To the right of each row you will see a red X button. Click the one next to your the redirect you wish to remove.
  4. You should be presented with a new screen telling you the redirect was removed. Click the Go Back button to return to the list of redirects. The redirect you selected prviously should no longer be there.
The above instructions should work. If they do not, you will want to use the File Manager to check and see that the permissions for the .htaccess file in the public_html folder are set correctly. If they are not set to 644, but to something like 444, then they will not have the permissions to rewrite the redirect. In that case, simply change the file permissions of the file to 644. Once done, you should be able to repeat the process above and remove the redirects. Should that fail, it means the file may not have the correct owner (possibly root instead, for example). In that case, you will need to contact the Support Team directly and have them alter the file to have the proper ownership. I do see you have already submitted a Support request for this issue, so they will be addressing that ticket as soon as possible. Kindest Regards, Scott M
