My test site keeps redirecting to another url...

Hi,

I've created a test site (Wordpress) by following the instructions on this page thoroughly [https://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/website/wordpress/duplicate-wordpress-site-for-testing].

The problem, however is that my test site [http://test.mydomain.in] keeps redirecting to [https://mydomain.co.th]. This is really strange and confusing, especially as the test site doesn't even have the same domain as the site that it redirects to...

I've contacted Inmotion tech support, but the issue still remains unresolved. I was advised to try getting the support in Community Support forum as well.

The tech support also mentioned that there's a "redirect configured somewhere that is redirecting to https://" in the database (regardless of the Redirection column for this test site cPanel > Domains > Subdomains is displayed as "not redirected"). The tech support also suspected that the configuration might be "hardcoded there or the result of a plugin that is causing it".

At this point, I suspect the cause of the issue to come from either of the following factor:
- my SSL certificate is multi-domain certificate
- some configuration in Sucuri's Security plugin (free version)
- some configuration in W3 Total Cache

I made sure to deactivate the said plugins before I copied the files and directories to the folder of the test site though. So I'm not sure if the plugins were the cause.

But if it's the multi-domain SSL issue, then the solution might be simpler (i.e. solution = change to single domain SSL). But I would like to make sure that this is really the cause.

Please advise and/or confirm.

Best regards,

John

Hello John, I took a deeper look and although I cannot precisely determine the issue, I have a good idea that it is plugin related. This is due to what I found when looking and the fact that the cloning works for the vast majority of people without issue. Unfortunately, with all the caching and security plugins, I am not able to get deep enough to pinpoint the exact cause. Try following our common WordPress troubleshooting techniques to see if it can resolve it. Kindest Regards, Scott M
