Receiving email has become terribly slow

Receiving email from your servers became *terribly* slow starting in late December. For example, today receiving 10 emails containing a total of 462 kb of data required 6 minutes and 32 seconds of elapsed time over a broadband connection. Receiving such emails from your servers has always been much faster in the past. At first, I thought the slow down might be due to something on my PC, so I've been disabling things like my anti-virus software one-by-one and experimenting with receive times, but found no change. Email receipt is still terribly slow. It used to be quite fast from your servers. The email program that I use is Outlook 2007.

has something changed recently in your email servers?

I received notice in December that my hosting would move from an old server that was being retired (biz32) to a new server (biz164). Could this move have caused the problem? If not, do you have other suggestions for me?

Hello, Thank you for contacting us about slow emails. Since there doesn't seem to be other reported issues with email on your server, I recommend performing a Ping/Traceroute to your incoming mail servers. You can view your email servers in cPanel at any time. This will provide specific evidence into what is causing a delay in the transmission. If you are using IMAP settings, we recommend email archiving, or just not storing too many emails in the INBOX. If you have any further questions, feel free to post them below. Thank you, John-Paul
