OpenCart Taxes

I sell to Australia and overseas. In Australia we have 10% GST where as there is zero tax for export.

I am familiar with geo zones etc but the problem I have is the tax is only showing up at the total/check out page. I want OpenCart to show the correct price (Australian buyers +10% GST; other buyers no GST) at the product page. I do not want to take buyers all the way to check out to be told there is a 10% GST not to show an inflated price to overseas buyers to drive them away. I had a programmer who suggested that he could modify for OC to determine the location of the IP address but then this only solves half the problem because an Australian buyer could log on from Singapore and it shows no GST but at check out, OC will use the location address (Australia) and adds GST.

I think one solution is to have the buyer to select the geographical location to begin with so that the correct price will be chosen. Has any dealt with this before? If so, what was your approach?

Hello Lim, Thank you for your question. First you must setup a Geo Zone for Australia, then you can add a new tax rate to that zone.
