Using inmotion for email or web hosting (but not both)

I have a newly opened inmotion account. I have a domain that is registered and hosted with a different company.
I want to now use inmotion for email, and in about three months I will want to use inmotion for my web hosting.
Should I point the MX record(s) at my current host company to the following nameservers?
ns1.inmotionhosting.com - IP Address: 74.124.210.242
ns2.inmotionhosting.com - IP Address: 70.39.150.2

And, later, when I want to move my web hosting to inmotion, should I use the same nameservers as above?

I am not sure if it is clear on your site or in your support center, but it was difficult for me (an incoming customer) to get clarity about
transferring email or web hosting to inmotion while leaving the other service with another provider. (Although
I did find info for current inmotion customers who wanted to change their email provider and thus needed
guidance on changing their MX records in their inmotion account)
If I did not overlook this information, perhaps there could be more information added to your site on this subject.

Hello, Thank you for your question about updating your DNS records. You would not want to set the MX records to match the nameserver IP addresses. Nameservers are provided for when you point your domain name to our DNS servers. You can update your MX records independently, but they should point to a sub-domain like mail.yourdomain.com. Then point the sub-domain, in this case, mail.yourdomain.com to the IP for your server with us. Please keep in mind that these changes, as with all DNS changes, may take up to 4 - 24 hours to take effect. Gratefully, Casey B.
