Domain registered elsewhere, would like to use inMotion for email

Greetings - I have several domains registered with inMotion and use you for all email and management. Recently I have been asked to build another website for a client and set up their email. The domain was registered elsewhere but the client has changed the name server to inMotions. Even after reading through the online support regarding this subject, I'm still unsure if I need to physically transfer the domain or if changing the server name is enough to access the domain through cPanel and administer it from here. Please advise. Thx!

Hello, Thank you for your question on properly setting email records after changing name servers. If the domain is pointed to our name servers, then InMotion will be the DNS Authority for the domain records. This means you would set any records for email (mail, MX), domain (A,CNAME), etc from here within your cPanel. By default, after pointing to our name servers, the email will work from our servers, so there is no need to make any further changes if you want to use InMotion for email. Kindest Regards, Scott M
