VPS. We send email thru 3rd party via DNS Zones. Blacklisted IP

Our VPS hosting account hosts 5 domains. The IP address associated with our hosting (70.39.250.251) is now blacklisted by Barracuda and another listing entity.

All email for all our hosted domains have MX records we have always pointed out to a 3rd party email service.

We do not (as a company) ever send mass email.

The reason given for blacklisting is "bad reputation" due to "spam".

What--if anything--actions can I take via AMP/cpanel to lock down security and prevent nefarious actors from sending email through our account. I am NOT SAYING that this is what I believe is happening. I only want to get advice on tools available to me that you could recommend that would dissuade bad actors from sending mail under our account.

Also, could it be that another VPS is hosting on the same IP, and is causing this blacklisting issue?

Hello custo299, Thank you for your question about Spam reputations and blacklisting. This is definitely a vast topic, and there are many things you can try. I advise limiting max emails per hour in WHM for each account. This would make it very difficult for any spammers to "spoof" any of the accounts in your system and send mass emails. Likewise, you could limit email entirely to zero through the same WHM account management interface. Best, Christopher M.
