Vietnamese in Posts

I'm running WP 3.5.2 and would like to be able to show Vietnamese language in some titles and in some content of posts. Don't want to change the language of the site (like the admin or menus) - just want to be able to show the occasional Vietnamese word with tone marks and so forth. Currently when I put Vietnamese in it will swap out characters for ??? or symbols on save.

I've done some looking but am not finding recent articles related to this. Based on some things I have read, I went to the cPanel and to phpMyAdmin and saw that the general setting for Server Connection Collation is utf8_general_ci. I tried to change that to utf8_unicode_ci but this did not seem to make any difference.

Appreciate any assistance from those with more knowledge / experience.

Hello aj_partner, I am unable to locate your account with the information provided, so I am only able to answer generally. The charset for utf8 will support the same languages, no matter whether using general_ci or unicode_ci. The differences in those two formats is located in the sorting algorithms, which will not affect what is able to be displayed. You will want to check and ensure that your individual tables are not set to Latin-1, and also check your wp-config.php file to ensure the DB_CHARSET is utf8, which it should be, by default. Below is an article on how to convert your database to utf: How to convert a database to UTF-8 Best Regards, Scott M
