editing my WordPress pages

It has been way too long since I updated my pages. I used WordPress to create them, and have signed on to WordPress to edit them, so I don't know if I should ask this question here. But ... I click on Pages, I see a list of my pages, and when I click on the View option I see the page I selected with all its content. But when I click Edit I am presented with an empty text box and a word count of 0. I am feeling both stupid and baffled. I am waiting for the completion of my registration on the WordPress forum, but if you can point me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it.
