I want to put a 20 MB mp3 on my website. Is that within your rules? If so, can you point me toward instructions for how to set it up so people can download the file? Thanks.

Hi RodW648,

Thanks for posting your question. I'm more than happy to assist you. You can post a href link to the file on your website so your website's visitors can download it. Now, a 20MB file isn't going to violate anything in our terms of service, however, that is a large file to download. Have you thought about splitting the file up so your visitors can download segments to enhance the usability of your website?

Here's a link on how to create a href tag:
Linking to files on your website

Instead of linking to a HTML file you'll link to the mp3 file on your server.

Also, make sure that the material you are sharing is your own and not copyrighted by someone else. Sharing copyrighted material that is not yours would violate our terms of service.

If you need further assistance please feel free to contact us.

On my last site (hosted by IMH) I simply uploaded my MP3s, then made a link on my website that went to the MP3 file for either streaming or downloading. The link was <> and I marked it as an external URL in my page editor. Worked like a charm. I didn't have to create these href links.
Now I am building a new site with WordPress (maybe). If the method of linking I used before doesn't work with WP, I may just stick with RapidWeaver. I would rather use WP though.
Let me restate: What I want to do is create a sub-folder in my Public_html folder, name it AUDIO and put all of my MP3s in there, put the names of those MP3s on my webpage as external links. Is that possible in WP?

In WordPress you can create links for pages and posts with either the Visual or Text editor. The text editor is where you enter the href code. The visual does it via a a link icon in the menu bar. But either way you choose you can do what you are asking.

Kindest Regards,
