Hey guys, I have a website running for my father on a primary account drambro***k.com. I also have a domain name through godaddy that i had previously redirected to a carbonmade site. I decided to try and change that a couple nights ago. I went to godaddy and changed the nameservers to inmotions. Then i created an addon domain here with my website name of donaldam******.com, and uploaded wordpress to the new ftp that was created. For some reason that i cannot figure out though is that i can only get to this new wordpress site through donaldambroziak.drambro***k.com (like a subdomain?) and not by going directly to donaldambroziak.com. I'm pretty clueless. Thanks for the help.

Hello InMotionFans,

Thank you for your question about addon domains. I spent some time looking at the domain "donaldam******.com" and noticed it is pointed to an invalid IP address. However, when I checked your settings in cPanel/WHM they are correct.

This lead me to believe you are experiencing propagation, due to the changes you made in to the DNS with godaddy, and also creating a new Addon domain.

To confirm this, I performed a host file modification to point "donaldam******.com" to your shared IP, and your site on our server resolves.

When I lookup your domain with GoDaddy, it shows as recently modified as well. I recommend allowing some more time for these updates to resolve, then testing again. You can begin working on your site by using a host file modification as described above.

If you have any further questions, feel free to post them below.

Thank you,
John-Paul

Hi John-Paul,
Thanks for looking in to this. I tested the link today and it still doesn't work. I had changed the DNS with godaddy on the first of the month and it is now the seventh. The article on propagation says that it may take up to 24 hours. Since I am past 24 hours by a couple days, I'm guessing there is another issue. So i started digging around this morning and noticed that when I log into my AMP with my email, another primary domain pops up as an option. It is the donaldambroziak.com domain that I've been trying to use as an addon domain for drambroziak.com. I had stopped using it as a primary back in 2011, and when i click on it in the AMP page says that I currently have no active subscriptions. Is there a way i can delete that as a primary domain? and do you think that would fix the issue? thanks!

Hello ambroziak,

It appears the domain name is pointing to an IP address that goes nowhere. If you had used this domain name previously it could just be residual data. We have set the domain to point to the current hosting account server so it should begin working within a short propagation period (about 4 hours).

The primary domain name in the AMP is not relevant to the hosting server itself. The hosting server has the proper primary domain name. The AMP is simply just showing what the account originally had as the primary domain name. If you want to have that changed for the sake of correctness, our Live Support team can get into the account and do that by request.

Kindest Regards,
