Before you can manage DNS<\/a> for a domain from Platform i, the first step is adding it to your account. This guide will show you how to add a domain to Platform i that is not registered here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Add an External Domain Name<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If you have a domain that is already registered, you can add it to Platform i which allows you to host and manage the DNS records there. Keep in mind that you can also register a new domain<\/a> directly with Platform i.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First, update your Nameservers at your Domain Registrar to ns1.inmotionhosting.com<\/strong> and ns2.inmotionhosting.com<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Note:<\/strong> If you are migrating your domain from another InMotion Hosting account, you\u2019ll need to Contact InMotion Support<\/a> and request that your domain authority<\/strong> be released. This process is in place to prevent domain hijacking, for your security.<\/div>\n\n\n\n

  1. Login to Platform i<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Click Domains<\/strong> in the main menu and you will then see the DNS Management<\/em> section. When you first visit this page it will just say \u201cNo DNS\u201d until you add a domain and set the user or team that is associated with it.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Click the +Add<\/strong> button under DNS Management<\/em>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Click the first dropdown box and choose the user<\/strong> or team<\/a><\/strong> that you want to be associated with the domain.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Enter the Domain Name<\/strong> you want to manage in the next field.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  6. Click the Add<\/strong> button.
    You will then see your domain listed in the DNS Management <\/strong>section.
