In this guide, we\u2019ll show you how to create a new project with InMotion Central. A project is where you can manage a live or staged instance of a WordPress website. InMotion Central makes it easy to manage and develop multiple sites in separate projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can build a site and do not have to pay for hosting until your clients are ready to go live. Save time and money by testing and building separate instances in staging environments without disturbing your live sites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some of the other benefits of creating a project with InMotion Central are the ability to perform free backups of your projects using the Total Upkeep plugin and create \u201cSnaps\u201d that include a group of pre-built plugins that you can quickly implement on any project site. You can also save time by moving a copy of existing sites to InMotion\u2019s Managed WordPress platform in minutes and deploying updates right from InMotion Central without having to log in to the WordPress Dashboard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Create a New WordPress Site Project\u00a0<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

  1. Login to InMotion Central<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Click the +New Project <\/strong>button.

  3. Enter a Project Name<\/strong> then click the Next<\/strong> button.

  4. Select New WordPress<\/strong> then click Next<\/strong>.

  5. On the next screen you can choose your starting point. Here you can decide if you want a plain WordPress site or what is known as a Snap<\/em>. A Snap is a bundle of WordPress plugins that can be installed for a specific purpose. You can choose a pre-made one or create a new one from scratch. These are the available options:
    \u2022 I\u2019ll decide later<\/strong> \u2013 Choose this option if you want a plain WordPress installation, great for building a website from scratch.
    \u2022 Professional Design System<\/strong> \u2013 This Snap includes a page builder with an advanced theme along with other tools for creating forms, managing site cache, or even building an eCommerce store.
    \u2022 Easy Website Builder<\/strong> \u2013 This Snap will install website builder plugins designed to help you create a professional website quickly.
    \u2022 Personalized Selection (WordPress Snaps)<\/strong> \u2013 If you are planning to create multiple websites, you can choose this option and build your own Snap. You can then re-use the Snap with other WordPress setups in the future. This can save you time by automatically the themes and plugins you use the most.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  6. Once you\u2019ve made your selection, click the Install<\/strong> button.

  7. You will then see a message stating \u201cAwesome! Install In Progress. We\u2019re installing your preferred set up. It\u2019ll be done in less than a minute. We\u2019ll show you a notification when it\u2019s done. In the meantime, head over to your Project dashboard and check out your new features.\u201d Click the My Dashboard <\/strong>button to return to the main InMotion Central page.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  8. You will see a \u201cFinished Configuring\u201d message on the bottom right when your new project is ready. Click the Open WordPress<\/strong> button to access the Admin Dashboard for the site.

    Transfer a Site Into a New Project<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    1. Login to InMotion Central<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. Click the +New Project <\/strong>button.

    3. Enter a Project Name<\/strong> then click the Next<\/strong> button.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    4. Select the Site Transfer<\/strong> option then click the Next<\/strong> button.

    5. Enter Your WordPress URL <\/strong>in the available field then click the Next<\/strong> button.

    6. It will then locate your WordPress site and ask you to connect with a Username & Password<\/em> or Connect Plugin<\/em>. In this example, we are selecting the Username & Password<\/strong> option (the recommended method) then clicking the Next<\/strong> button.

    7. Enter your Username<\/strong> and Password<\/strong> then click the Next<\/strong> button.

    8. Your project will attempt to connect to the WordPress installation. Click the Transfer Site<\/strong> link when you see a\u00a0 message stating \u201cSuccessful WordPress Central Connection!<\/em>\u201d.

    9. The project will then be connected to your website. You will see a Finished Configuring link in the bottom right of the screen. Click the Open WordPress <\/strong>button to access the Dashboard for your project.

      Create a Project to Manage an Existing WordPress Install<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      1. Login to InMotion Central<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      2. Click the +New Project <\/strong>button.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      3. Enter a Project Name<\/strong> then click the Next<\/strong> button.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      4. Select the Manage Existing WordPress Install<\/strong> option then click the Next<\/strong> button.

      5. Enter Your WordPress URL <\/strong>then click the Next<\/strong> button.

      6. On the next screen choose how you want to connect then click the Next<\/strong> button. Options are Username & Password (Recommended)<\/em> or Connect Plugin<\/em>. For this guide we are using the recommended method of Username & Password<\/strong>.
