Occasionally our technical support is asked how to direct your website visitor\u2019s to view your website over HTTPS. Let\u2019s look an example:<\/p>\n

If a visitor goes to your website using https:\/\/mydomain.com, you can force them so they will always use the \u00a0shared SSL certificate. Shared SSL\u2019s are included on all Shared Hosting<\/a> plans. If you\u2019re not familiar with SSL certificates<\/a>, please view our article. If you have a dedicated SSL and want to force all of your website traffic to use your dedicated SSL we have a great tutorial on that as well.<\/p>\n

Forcing your visitors to use the Shared SSL<\/h2>\n

To force your visitors to use the shared SSL certificate that InMotion Hosting provides:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Log into cPanel<\/a><\/li>\n
  2. Go to the \u201cRedirects<\/strong>\u201d section<\/li>\n
  3. Set the \u201ctype<\/strong>\u201d to \u201cPermanent (301)<\/strong>\u201d<\/li>\n
  4. Next to \u201chttps:\/\/(www.)<\/strong>\u201d choose the domain name you want to do this for<\/li>\n
  5. Enter your websites URL using the Shared SSL next to the \u201credirects to<\/strong>\u201d field<\/li>\n
  6. We recommend using the \u201cRedirect with or without WWW<\/strong>\u201d selected so that any visitor will be forced to use the SSL whether they use mydomain.com or www.mydomain.com<\/li>\n
  7. Ensure \u201cWild Card Redirect<\/strong>\u201d is checked<\/li>\n
  8. Click \u201cAdd<\/strong>\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    During this example, we used the imhkm.com domain and redirected it to https:\/\/imhkm.com<\/em><\/p>\n
