The updated article applies to Mac OSX \u201cMavericks\u201d to Mac OSX \u201cEl Capitan\u201d (versions 10.92 \u2013 10.11.3) and Apple Mail client versions 7.2 \u2013 9.2.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"alert alert-warning\">\n<p><i>Please note that the following tutorial graphics are pre-Mavericks (version 10.9)<\/i>. The order for the information to fill in the fields are the same, but presented a little differently.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are unsure what your email settings are, you can find them with our <a href=\"\/support\/tools\/email-configuration\/\">Email Configuration<\/a> tool.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The following tutorial will show you <strong>how set up your email accounts in the default Apple email client, Mac Mail<\/strong>. If you have any questions regarding this set up, please feel free to contact support and we can assist you further.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"article_list wp-block-list\">\n<li>When you initially open Mac Mail, you will be presented with a screen similar to the one above. Fill out the requested information. Once you have done this, click <strong>Continue<\/strong>.<br><br><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"379\" src=\"https:\/\/www.inmotionhosting.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/macmail_1screen.jpg\" class=\"optimized-lcp-image\" alt=\"1screen\" loading=\"eager\" fetchpriority=\"high\" sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.inmotionhosting.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/macmail_1screen.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.inmotionhosting.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/macmail_1screen-300x227.jpg 300w\"><br><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In this next screen you put in the information regarding how Mac Mail will receive email. For account type select either POP or IMAP. (If you would like to know the differences between POP and IMAP please consult: <a href=\"\/support\/email\/getting-started-guide-email\/\">Getting Started Guide: Email<\/a>). For \u201c<strong>Description<\/strong>\u201d you can enter anything you would like so you know what account this is (useful for if you have multiple accounts). For \u201c<strong>Incoming Mail Server<\/strong>\u201d the server name will be <strong>mail.example.com<\/strong>. In the above example, the domain is imhtraining.com, the mail server is mail.imhtraining.com. In the \u201c<strong>User Name<\/strong>\u201d field put your Full Email Address. Just putting the part before the \u201c@\u201d will cause the server to not be able to authenticate correctly. In the password field put the password for the email account.<br><br><i>Please note, Mac Mail uses SSL by default. As a result when you use mail.example.com with IMAP there will be a warning asking you if you want to trust and accept an SSL certificate. It is perfectly safe to click allow for this. If you would like for this message to not appear and are in a shared environment change the mail server to securexx.inmotionhosting.com, where xx is your server number. For example, if your Welcome Email states that your account is on biz54.inmotionhosting.com, your outgoing server name should be secure54.inmotionhosting.com. Fill out the \u201c<strong>Description<\/strong>\u201d field as you see fit. The \u201c<strong>Outgoing Mail Server<\/strong>\u201d field should be filled out with the same server that was used in the \u201c<strong>Incoming Mail Server<\/strong>\u201d field. Check the box that says \u201c<strong>Use only this server<\/strong>\u201c. Also check the box that says \u201c<strong>Use Authentication<\/strong>\u201d and fill in the \u201cUser Name\u201d field with your <b>Full Email Address<\/b> and \u201c<strong>Password<\/strong>\u201d with that account\u2019s password.<br><br><i>Again note, Mac Mail by default uses SSL.
