Even so, there are a handful of tasks that require the <strong>Account Management Panel (AMP)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Since the AMP provides access to confidential financial data and personal details, you should <em>never<\/em> give your developer AMP access. Here are a few tasks you will need to yourself when <a href=\"https:\/\/www.inmotionhosting.com\/support\/website\/helping-your-designer-transfer-your-website\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">helping your designer or developer transfer<\/a> or work on your site.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"#ssl\">Manage Free Basic SSL<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#primary\">Change Primary Domain<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#passphrase\">Developer Verification Passphrase<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#cpanel\">Reset cPanel Password<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"ssl\">Manage Free Basic SSL<\/h2>\n<p>One of the most important tasks to take care of in AMP is also the easiest: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.inmotionhosting.com\/support\/website\/ssl\/auto-ssl-guide\/#manage-free-ssl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">it only takes a couple of clicks to enable AutoSSL, the free SSL that is auto-enabled forever<\/a>. <strong>SSLs<\/strong> make sure that visitors to your site connect securely. It\u2019s especially important to enable this ahead of time in AMP. That way, your developer can <a href=\"https:\/\/www.inmotionhosting.com\/support\/edu\/cpanel\/add-delete-autossl-cpanel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">carry out the rest of the process in cPanel<\/a> once they are ready!<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"primary\">Change Primary Domain<\/h2>\n<p>Most of InMotion\u2019s hosting plans come with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.inmotionhosting.com\/blog\/free-domain-registration-launch-your-website\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">free domain registration<\/a>. Not everyone knows what domain they want when they first sign up, though! Alternatively, you may already have a domain associated with a site you are transferring to InMotion and simply used a temporary, placeholder domain for the primary domain on your account.<\/p>\n<p>If your plan includes <strong>cPanel<\/strong>, the \u2018primary domain\u2019 cannot be changed within cPanel itself. You will need to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.inmotionhosting.com\/support\/domain-names\/how-do-i-change-the-main-domain-name-on-my-account\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">change the primary domain from AMP<\/a>. It\u2019s strongly advised that you do this before building or transferring your site, to save you the trouble of editing links and site files later!<\/p>\n<p class=\"alert alert-info\">Want to work on your site here at InMotion, but still have your domain pointed elsewhere? Don\u2019t worry! You can use a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.inmotionhosting.com\/support\/website\/modifying-your-hosts-file\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>hosts file modification<\/strong><\/a> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.inmotionhosting.com\/support\/edu\/software\/how-to-edit-your-hosts-file-on-a-mac\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mac and Linux<\/a>) to work on the InMotion version of your site even before you point the domain!<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"passphrase\">Developer Verification Passphrase<\/h2>\n<p>Even the best of us need a little help sometimes. InMotion will only discuss private account information after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.inmotionhosting.com\/support\/amp\/how-to-verify\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">verifying account ownership<\/a>. If your designer needs to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.inmotionhosting.com\/support\/amp\/how-to-get-great-technical-support\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Contact Inmotion\u2019s Technical Support<\/a>, this can present a problem. You don\u2019t want to provide someone else this level of account access, but you also don\u2019t want to find yourself acting as a go-between, repeating information a support specialist says to your developer and vice-versa!<\/p>\n<p>Thankfully there is an easy way around this\u2014 simply <a href=\"https:\/\/www.inmotionhosting.com\/support\/amp\/add-a-passphrase-to-your-account-using-amp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">set up a <strong>passphrase<\/strong> for your developer or designer<\/a>. This will allow your designer to get assistance with anything at the cPanel or site level. Our Support Team will be able to help make changes and correct any problems your developer runs into, but will not provide any information from or access to AMP related data.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a good idea to set this passphrase up in advance\u2014 and remember to change it if you switch developers. The only common issues we won\u2019t be able to assist your developer with are those listed in this article, so make sure you take care of everything here before handing the process off to your developer!<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"cpanel\">Reset cPanel Password<\/h2>\n<p>Last but not least, you will need to visit AMP to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.inmotionhosting.com\/support\/edu\/cpanel\/change-cpanel-password\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">change and reset your cPanel password<\/a>. You should <em>always<\/em> do this at least once, to make sure that your AMP and cPanel passwords are different!
