Backup Manager is a great way to utilize InMotion\u2019s backup system and secure the data of your VPS or Dedicated Server. Backups are stored on a separate server, you can choose what is backed up, and set a schedule.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.inmotionhosting.com\/support\/product-guides\/backup-manager\/purchase-backup-manager-using-amp-marketplace\/\"> Purchase Backup Manager<\/a> from AMP if you don\u2019t have it yet or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.inmotionhosting.com\/support\/website\/how-to-add-storage-for-data-backups-using-the-amp-marketplace\/\">purchase additional storage blocks<\/a> if necessary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this article:\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"#access\">Accessing Backup Manager<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"#purchase\">Purchase Backup Space<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"#settings\">Backup Settings<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"#restoration\">Perform a Restoration<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"#storage\">Storage Breakdown<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"#performance\">System Performance Tuning<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"alert alert-warning\"><strong>Note: <\/strong>You can restore the default settings at any time by clicking the yellow <strong>Reset System Tuning Settings<\/strong> button located on the bottom right of the page.<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"access\">Accessing Backup Manager<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Follow these steps to access and manage the backup manager options in your WHM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"article_list wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.inmotionhosting.com\/support\/edu\/whm\/log-into-whm\/\">Log into WHM<\/a> as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.inmotionhosting.com\/support\/amp\/obtain-root-access\/\">root<\/a> user.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Type \u201c<strong>backup<\/strong>\u201d in the search box.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click the <strong>Backup Manager<\/strong> link under the <em>Plugins<\/em> section.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Now that you know how to find the Backup Manager WHM, we will go over the available options and settings you will find there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"purchase\">Purchase Backup Space<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"article_list wp-block-list\">\n<li>On the Backup Manager Page click the <strong>Purchase Backup Space<\/strong> button. This will take you to AMP.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Under the section titled <em>Automated Backups<\/em> you will see your account\u2019s current usage. You can select a quantity to add storage in ten-gigabyte (10 GB) increments. Add enough slots so that your total backup space is greater than your current disk space.<br>For instance, if you have twelve gigabytes (12 GB) of disk space used and have ten gigabytes (10 GB) of backup storage space you will need to select one (1) ten-gigabyte (10 GB) slot from the Quantity drop-down. This will bring your total available storage for backups to twenty gigabytes (20 GB). With twelve gigabytes (12 GB) of disk space used, this gives you about eight gigabytes (8 GB) for your site to grow! We recommend you monitor your disk space often, to ensure that you always have enough backup space available.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <strong>Add to Cart<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click<strong> Continue to Cart <\/strong>to proceed to checkout.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select your Payment Method or add one, if necessary, by clicking on <strong>Add New Payment Method<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click the <strong>ORDER<\/strong> button to complete your purchase.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"settings\">Backup Settings<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"alert alert-danger\"><strong>Important:<\/strong> Do not delete or make any changes to the <strong>Paths<\/strong> unless you are certain they are accurate or it may not back up your system configuration.<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The Backup Settings tab is where you can enable and disable automatic file and database backups. If they failed there will be a link to View Log or Submit a Ticket.<\/td><\/tr>\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t<tr><td>Restorations in Queue<\/td><td>View the status of any queued restorations here.<\/td><\/tr>\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t<tr><th colspan=\"2\"><div align=\"center\">Restore a System Backup<\/div><\/th><\/tr>\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t<tr><td>Restore from date<\/td><td>Click this drop-down to choose a date to restore to.<\/td><\/tr>\n\n\t\t\t<tr><td>Select Files<\/td><td>Choose which files to restore here.<\/td><\/tr>\n\n\t\t\t<tr><td>Restore Method<\/td><td>Choose if you want to restore to the origins folder or select a different location.<\/td><\/tr>\n\n\t\t\t<tr><td>Email to notify on completion (optional)<\/td><td>Enter an email address if you want to be messaged when the restoration completes.<\/td><\/tr>\n\n\t\t\t<tr><th colspan=\"2\"><div align=\"center\">Restore a MySQL Backup<\/div><\/th><\/tr>\n\n\t\t\t<tr><td>Restore from date<\/td><td>Click this drop-down to choose a date to restore your database to.<\/td><\/tr>\n\n\t\t\t<tr><td>Select a database<\/td><td>Choose the database you want to restore.<\/td><\/tr>\n\n\t\t\t<tr><td>Dump Path<\/td><td>Enter a location to restore the database to.<\/td><\/tr>\n\n\t\t\t<tr><td>Restore Method<\/td><td>Choose if you want to \u201cDump backup to path above\u201d or \u201cDump current database to path above and overwrite current database with the backup\u201d.<\/td><\/tr>\n\n\t\t\t<tr><td>Email to notify on completion (optional)<\/td><td>Enter an email address if you want to be messaged when the restoration completes.<\/td><\/tr>\n\n\t\t\t<tr><td>Restore a PgSQL Backup<\/td><td>If you are using PostgreSQL databases, options will be listed here.<\/td><\/tr>\n\n\t\t<\/tbody>\n\t<\/table>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"storage\">Storage Breakdown<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Here you can view how much space your backups are taking and also limit the amount of backup space cPanel users can use. Follow these steps to set cPanel user backup size limits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Set cPanel Limits<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"article_list wp-block-list\">\n<li>Click the toggle next to the <strong>Limit Account Usage<\/strong> option. You will then see the additional options.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you want to set a \u201c<strong>Default limit for new accounts<\/strong>\u201d enter a value in the box in Gigabytes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter an address in the \u201c<strong>Email to send Notifications<\/strong>\u201d field if you want to be messaged when a backup limitation is reached.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You will see existing cPanel users listed. Enter a value in the \u201c<strong>Backup Limit\u201d<\/strong> field as needed.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click the toggle on the right to <strong>enable<\/strong> or <strong>disable<\/strong> email notifications.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"performance\">System Performance Tuning<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"alert alert-danger\"><strong>Note:<\/strong> Do not make any changes to this section unless you are absolutely sure of what you are changing.<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>This tab lets you set load and bandwidth limitations when backups or restorations are being performed.
