How do you get Google and\/or Microsoft to stop telling people to no longer visit your site? After all, this is potentially costing you money!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Should you have a backup restored?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are a couple of issues with doing this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If you aren\u2019t sure when you were hacked then there is the possibility that your backup is also hacked.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Even if you knew when the site was hacked, and you restored a backup from before that point, you may still have the issues that led to it being hacked. However, if you upgraded the site this <em>could<\/em> prevent a subsequent hack.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What should you do?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If you visit <a href=\"https:\/\/transparencyreport.google.com\/safe-browsing\/search?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Check Site Status<\/a> and give it your URL it will tell you why Google marked your site as having malicious content. To have the warning removed you need to take one more step, and ask them to take another look at the site(s) having the issue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>For Google You will need to join\/verify ownership of the site:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"article_list wp-block-list\">\n<li>Visit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/webmasters\/#?modal_active=none\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Google Webmaster Central<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on <strong>Search Console<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <strong>Add a site<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Type in your <strong>Site\u2019s URL<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Verify your site using the Recommended method or Alternate methods options<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <strong>Add a site<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <strong>Verify<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Check the <strong>Messages <\/strong>section to review any warnings.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>To request a security issue review from Google:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"article_list wp-block-list\">\n<li>Navigate to the<strong> Security Issues<\/strong> tab in Search Console.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Review the issues to confirm all have been cleaned.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Check the box to confirm I have fixed these issues.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <strong>Request a Review<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fill in the information with as much detail as possible about what was cleaned.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>To request a spam review from Google:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"article_list wp-block-list\">\n<li>Navigate to the <strong>Search Traffic<\/strong> tab in Search Console.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click the <strong>Manual Actions<\/strong> section.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Review the issues to confirm all have been cleaned.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <strong>Request a Review<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fill in the information with as much detail as possible about what was cleaned.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>For Microsoft Edge:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"article_list wp-block-list\">\n<li>Visit the offending site<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on the More Information link<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on Report that his site contains no threats<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Patience<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p> After this point, it\u2019s just a waiting game. It is up to Google\/Microsoft to confirm that the issue has been removed.
