In this article we\u2019ll go over how you can copy multiple accounts from either your previous host or another server of ours, to your new server with root access.<\/p>\n

In this example we\u2019ll be transferring WHM \/ cPanel<\/strong> accounts. Other control panels are also supported in the account copy process, but since we also use WHM \/ cPanel<\/strong> this would be the least accident prone way to copy accounts over.<\/p>\n

To copy multiple accounts this way you\u2019ll need to have root access<\/a> on either your VPS or dedicated server. You\u2019ll also need to have SSH access to your old server, and your new server\u2019s IP address with us must be allowed to connect via SSH to your previous server.<\/p>\n

How to Copy Multiple Accounts from Another Server<\/h2>\n
    \n
  1. Log into WHM<\/a> on our server.<\/li>\n
  2. In the top-left Find<\/strong> box, type in transfer<\/strong>, then click on Copy multiple accounts\/packages from another server<\/strong>.

    Remote Server Info section<\/h4>\n

    \nNow you\u2019ll be presented with a drop-down list for Remote Server Type<\/strong>, in this example we\u2019re going to assume your previous host was using WHM\/cPanel<\/strong> and select that from the drop-down.<\/p>\n

    For the Remote Server Address<\/strong> field you\u2019ll want to type in the current IP address of your website on the old server, or your domain name if it\u2019s still pointed to that server.<\/p>\n

    By default the Remote SSH port<\/strong> should be 22<\/strong>, you can click on Check SSH Connection<\/strong> directly below this setting to ensure it\u2019s set correctly.<\/p>\n

    If you receive an error of Connecting to Remote Server Failed<\/strong> this typically means that your server\u2019s IP address with us isn\u2019t allowed in your old server\u2019s firewall. You\u2019ll want to add your IP address to the firewall following these steps:<\/p>\n

    1.<\/strong> To fix this you\u2019ll want to login to your old server\u2019s WHM interface.
    \n2.<\/strong> In the top-left Find<\/strong> box type in firewall<\/strong>, then click on the Add IP to Firewall<\/strong> link.
    \n3.<\/strong> Now in the Allow Rule<\/strong> field, type in the IP address of your server with us. Then click on Add Rule \/ Restart<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

    Once you establish a SSH connection successfully you should get a message like:<\/p>\n

    Remote Server Ok: SSH-2.0-OpenSSH_5.3<\/code><\/p>\n

    We would recommend leaving the Don\u2019t Compress Transfers<\/strong> option disabled. Use SSL<\/strong> should be enabled if possible, as well as Use Incremental Backups speed-up options.<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Authentication section<\/h4>\n

    \nIn this section for Login<\/strong>, select Root<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Then you can choose either option for Authentication Method<\/strong> and enter in either the Root<\/strong> password or public key.<\/p>\n

    Finally click on the Fetch Account List<\/strong> button at the bottom of the page to start the copy process.<\/p><\/li>\n

  4. At the bottom of screen you can select the cPanel accounts that you\u2019d like to transfer. For this example we are not copying over any packages just the accounts.You can also select to skip certain parts of the account copy if you\u2019d like by placing a checkmark in the column for each option. Finally click the Copy<\/strong> button at the bottom of the screen to begin the copy process.

    \nYou\u2019ll get a pop-up window telling you not to close the web browser while the copy takes place, click OK<\/strong> to continue and be sure to leave your web browser open until the copy completes.\n

  5. After the copy has completed you\u2019ll get another pop-up warning you not to click the back button in your web browser, click OK<\/strong>.

  6. You\u2019ll now be on the Review Copied Accounts<\/strong> page, you can click on View Log<\/strong> beside any account to review the log of that account\u2019s copy process. Or you can simply close this new window in your web browser which should drop you back to your window with the main WHM interface.

  7. Now still in WHM, up in the top left Find<\/strong> box, type in list<\/strong>, then click on List Accounts<\/strong>.

  8. You should now see the accounts that we copied over userna1<\/strong>, and userna2<\/strong> on your server:

    Now that you\u2019ve successfully copied over your accounts from an old server to your new server, you\u2019ll want to be sure to check it on the new server using the temporary URL<\/a>, or by modifying your local hosts file<\/a>.<\/p>\n

    Once you\u2019ve verified that everything seems to be properly copied over you\u2019ll want to update your domain\u2019s name servers to point to us<\/a> so that when people try to access your domain name the new IP address of your new server is where they\u2019re getting directed to.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
