AX Maintenance Mode"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>In this article:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"#maintenance\">Maintenance Mode<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"#test\">Testing<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s generally best to harden the security of a newly installed content management system (CMS) before setting it live to the public. That can include anything from simple updates to advanced .htaccess hardening. It\u2019s best to make these changes <em>before<\/em> granting user access to the website for the first time, especially for an internet relay chat (IRC) system. Everything is real-time. And malicious users \u2013 <em>hackers, trolls, etc.<\/em> \u2013 aren\u2019t filtered by default.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We want to mitigate such issues in IRC rooms where malicious users can attack your entire user base within seconds. But first, we need to disable BlaB! AX from allowing other users to use the IRC system in the meantime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Below we\u2019ll cover how to enable maintenance mode, update the under construction message, and test your changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"alert alert-info\"> Install BlaB! AX Chat with just a few clicks using our Softaculous Instant Installer \u2013 free alongside our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.inmotionhosting.com\/shared-hosting\">Shared Hosting<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"maintenance\">Maintenance Mode<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list article_list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/#\">Log in to BlaB! AX<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>After logging in, click the triple-dot icon in the upper-left corner to view user options.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click the \u201c<strong>A<\/strong>\u201d admin button.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the <em>Board<\/em> section, Beside <em>Turn chat on\/off<\/em>, click <strong>On<\/strong> and select <strong>Off<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>(Optional) Change the maintenance text from <code>Our chat is closed now...<\/code> to include the estimated duration of downtime and other support options in the meantime. Then click <strong>OKAY<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"test\">Test Your Changes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list article_list\">\n<li>Click <strong>Exit<\/strong> on the left.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Open the user options panel from the upper left corner, or click your <kbd>Esc<\/kbd> key.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click the log out button (right arrow on the bottom right).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Attempt to log in as a non-admin user or guest (if enabled).
