You can only have multiple cPanel accounts on a VPS or dedicated server plan, so if you\u2019re looking to downgrade your account to a shared-hosting plan you would need to first consolidate your accounts down into one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In our example below we have two cPanel accounts <strong>userna1<\/strong> with the domain <strong>PrimaryDomain.com<\/strong> and <strong>userna2<\/strong> with the domain <strong>AddonDomain.com<\/strong>. We\u2019ll be merging the <strong>AddonDomain.com<\/strong> domain into the <strong>userna1<\/strong> account so that both domains can be accessed from the same cPanel account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"alert alert-info\">cPanel creation is no longer unlimited. This is especially true of WordPress security plugins. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.inmotionhosting.com\/support\/edu\/wordpress\/disable-wordpress-plugins\/\">Consider temporarily deactivating your plugins<\/a> while merging cPanels. After the merge, reactivate and reconfigure them to work correctly on the new cPanel account.<\/p>\n<ol class=\"article_list\">\n<li>First grab all of the content for <strong>AddonDomain.com<\/strong> via <a href=\"\/support\/website\/ftp\/getting-started-guide\/\">FTP<\/a> using the <strong>userna2<\/strong> username.<\/li>\n<li>In this example we\u2019re connected using FileZilla, with the server\u2019s files on the right-hand side, and our local folders on the left. Then navigate to the\u00a0<strong>etc<\/strong> directory in both window panes, and finally drag the\u00a0<strong>AddonDomain.com<\/strong> directory from your local computer to the server\u2019s\u00a0<strong>etc<\/strong> directory.<br><a href=\"\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/website_cpanel_cpanel-merge_filezilla-drag-etc-from-local.png\" rel=\"lightbox-0\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"std_ss\" src=\"https:\/\/www.inmotionhosting.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/website_cpanel_cpanel-merge_filezilla-drag-etc-from-local.png\" alt=\"filezilla-drag-etc-from-local\" width=\"664\" height=\"747\"><\/a>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<div style=\"clear: both;\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>Next navigate to the\u00a0<strong>mail<\/strong> folder in both window panes, and again drag the\u00a0<strong>AddonDomain.com<\/strong>\u00a0directory from the local computer side to the server side.<br><a href=\"\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/website_cpanel_cpanel-merge_filezilla-drag-mail-from-local.png\" rel=\"lightbox-0\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"std_ss\" src=\"https:\/\/www.inmotionhosting.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/website_cpanel_cpanel-merge_filezilla-drag-mail-from-local.png\" alt=\"filezilla-drag-mail-from-local\" width=\"661\" height=\"748\"><\/a>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<div style=\"clear: both;\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>Finally navigate in both windows to the\u00a0<strong>public_html<\/strong> directory, then on the server side navigate into the\u00a0<strong>AddonDomain.com<\/strong> directory that we created when creating the addon domain. On your local computer side hit\u00a0<strong>Ctrl-A<\/strong> to select all of the files, then drag them over into the remote side.<br><a href=\"\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/website_cpanel_cpanel-merge_filezilla-drag-public-html-from-local.png\" rel=\"lightbox-0\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"std_ss\" src=\"https:\/\/www.inmotionhosting.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/website_cpanel_cpanel-merge_filezilla-drag-public-html-from-local.png\" alt=\"filezilla-drag-public-html-from-local\" width=\"663\" height=\"747\"><\/a>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<div style=\"clear: both;\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>Now that you have all of your website data loaded under the\u00a0<strong>userna1<\/strong> cPanel account the next thing you need to do is restore your MySQL database that you backed up.
