Matomo<\/a> is an open source analytics software you can install on your server to learn more about those viewing your website<\/strong>. Those using a content management system (CMS) such as WordPress<\/a> can manage it from the website dashboard. Formally Piwik Analytics<\/em>, Matomo has few requirements<\/a> needing adjustment on InMotion Hosting servers other than PHP<\/abbr> 5.6 or later<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Note:<\/strong> shell_exec<\/em> cannot be enabled on shared servers.<\/p>\n

Those with Softaculous can install Matamo there<\/a> and continue the setup from there<\/a>. Those without Softaculous can upload the installation file within minutes and easily get started.<\/p>\n

Upload Matomo Files<\/h2>\n

  1. Download the zip file from Matomo.org<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  2. Upload the zip file<\/a> to your server.<\/li>\n
  3. Extract the zip file<\/a> to the public_html<\/em> directory. It\u2019ll export Matomo to a \/piwik<\/em> folder and How to install Matomo.html<\/em> file which redirects to Matomo official instructions<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  4. Change the folder name from \/piwik<\/em> if you\u2019d prefer a different Matomo URL than domain.com\/piwik<\/em>. You can create a subdomain<\/a> in cPanel to use sub\/domain.com<\/em>.<\/li>\n
  5. Create a MySQL database and user<\/a> with all privileges<\/strong> to the database.\n

    Note:<\/strong>The default port is 3306. If your server uses a different port, you can enter it after the hostname.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    1. Type the subdomain URL of the extracted Matomo installation in your web browser.<\/strong> For example, if you extracted Matomo in the \u201cpublic_html\/analytics<\/em>\u201d folder, the URL would be domain.com\/analytics<\/em>.<\/li>\n
    2. Press Next<\/strong> on the welcome screen.

    3. The next screen will show how your server meets Matomo\u2019s requirements. \n
    4. Fill in the database user<\/strong>, user password<\/strong>, and database name<\/strong>. \n
    5. Specify a super user<\/strong> name, password<\/strong>, and email account<\/strong>.
