In this article, we’re going to show you how to activate the Jetpack plugin<\/strong> for WordPress. As with all WordPress plugins, you can both Install<\/i> and Activate<\/i> Jetpack from the plugin search page.<\/p>\n

However, Jetpack requires a secondary “set up” phase in which you connect your self-hosted WordPress site to WordPress.com. We’ll show you how this works below.<\/p>\n

Install the Jetpack Plugin<\/h2>\n

First, you’ll just need to make sure you have already installed the Jetpack plugin<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Once the installation is complete, you can activate the plugin by clicking Activate<\/b> right from the plugin search screen, or by following the steps below:<\/p>\n

  1. Make sure you’re logged into the WordPress Dashboard<\/a><\/li>\n
  2. Select Plugins<\/b> from the menu on the left<\/li>\n
  3. Click Activate<\/b> under the Jetpack listing<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Now you will be redirected to a screen that will help you integrate your self-hosted WordPress site into your WordPress.com account.<\/p>\n

    Connect Jetpack to WordPress.com<\/h2>\n

    In order to unlock the full power of the Jetpack plugin, you must connect it to an active WordPress.com<\/a> account. If you already have a WordPress.com account, you will just need your username and password. If not, make sure to go ahead and create a WordPress.com account first.<\/p>\n

    Proceeding from the Activation stage (above), Jetpack will automatically redirect you to a setup screen that will assist you with the connection.<\/p>\n

    1. Click the button that says Set Up Jetpack<\/b><\/li>\n
    2. Fill in the username and password for your WordPress.com account<\/li>\n
    3. Activate features<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Your self-hosted WordPress site is now connected to WordPress.com via the Jetpack plugin! Make sure to familiarize yourself with some of the important Jetpack features:<\/p>\n
