InMotion Hosting’s Cloud Server Hosting expands your capabilities and options when it comes to Operating Systems (OS). Currently, Ubuntu, CentOS, and Debian are available options to choose for your OS. With the tools available in your Account Management Panel (AMP), you can choose (from the available options) an alternative OS to replace your original selection. In this guide, you can learn how to use the Re-OS Cloud Server feature in AMP, to select a new operating system<\/em> for your Cloud Server<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

WARNING! <\/b>Re-OSing will<\/u> result in the loss of all data and settings currently on your server<\/u><\/b>, including any temporary or permanent snapshots<\/i> you may have saved.<\/div>\n\n\n\n
WARNING!<\/b> When re-OSing, you can select an alternate operating system for your VPS to run, which will reset your VPS to the selected operating system’s base installation state<\/u><\/b>.<\/div>\n\n\n\n
    \n
  1. Log into your Account Management Panel<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Under the Cloud Server hosting plan<\/em> section, click on the Re-OS Cloud Server<\/strong> button.

    NOTICE:<\/b> If you have multiple servers associated with your AMP account, you can simply enter the domain name in the Filter by Domain<\/i> field to narrow down the displayed servers.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Read the Important Notice<\/b> pop-up that displays. Then click on a radio button to select one of the options for the OS you would like to use (as the new OS<\/strong>).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Once you have made your selection for the new OS AND<\/u> have read through the Important Notice<\/b>, click on the “I understand the consequences and wish to proceed with re-OSing my server<\/b>” checkbox.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Finally, click on the RE-OS CLOUD SERVER<\/strong> button.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    A message will appear over the controls for your server in AMP:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    “Currently example.com is being returned to its original OS state. Your Hosting Account Controls will be available when the process is completed.<\/i>“<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Once the re-OS process completes (approximately 15-30 minutes), a new message will appear:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    “Before you will be able to manage example.com, you must setup access to your server.<\/i>“<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    1. Click on the ACCESS MY SERVER<\/b> button.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. If you have already added a Public Key<\/i>, you can simply select your server from the list in the Install Key to:<\/b> drop-down menu.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    3. Then click the SUBMIT<\/b> button too add your existing key.

      NOTE:<\/b> If you have NOT<\/u> added a Public Key<\/i>, then you will need to add an SSH Key.<\/div><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      A message will appear to confirm the key was successfully added:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      “Public key successfully installed.<\/i>“<\/p>\n\n\n\n
