Dynamic Shared Object (DSO)<\/strong> is an Apache module that is used to handle PHP scripts. It is one of a few PHP Handlers available to choose from<\/a>. Its major benefits are speed and the ability to use OpCode caching. When implemented with the Apache module, Mod_Ruid2<\/strong>, DSO can be utilized more securely. In this guide, you will learn how to install DSO with Mod_Ruid2 using EasyApache 4.<\/p>\n

NOTE: <\/b>A VPS<\/a> or Dedicated Server<\/a> with root access<\/a> is required to follow the steps in this guide.<\/div>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

Installing DSO with ModRuid2<\/h2>\n
    \n
  1. \"WHM<\/a>Log into WHM<\/a> as root.\n
    <\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  2. \"easy<\/a>Type \u2018easy<\/strong>\u2018 into the search field in the top left of WHM.\n
    <\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  3. \"WHM<\/a>Under the Software<\/em> category, click on EasyApache<\/strong>\n
    <\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  4. \"EA4<\/a>In the Currently Installed Packages<\/em> section, click on the Customize<\/strong> button.\n
    <\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  5. \"mod_mpm_prefork<\/a>For Apache MPM<\/em> click on the toggle button next to mod_mpm_prefork<\/strong>.\n
  6. \"Apache<\/a>From the Apache Modules<\/em> section, use the search box to locate mod_ruid2<\/strong> and click the toggle button to select it for installation. Click the Next<\/strong> button.\n

  7. \"PHP<\/a>Select the PHP version(s) you would like to install by clicking on the toggle button(s). Click the Next<\/strong> button to continue.\n

  8. \"PHP<\/a>Use the search box to locate php##-php, where \u2018##\u2019 is replaced by the PHP version number that you want to use DSO as the handler for (e.g. for PHP 5.6 \u2018php56-php\u2019). Click on the toggle button to select it for installation.\n
  9. OPTIONAL: <\/i>Select any desired Ruby modules. Click the Next<\/strong> button.<\/li>\n
  10. \"EasyApache<\/a>Review the changes to be made and then click on the Provision<\/strong> button to begin installing and configuring DSO components.\n

    Confirm DSO Available<\/h2>\n

    Once you have provisioned the EasyApache profile as described in the section above, follow the steps below to confirm that DSO is now available for the PHP version you selected.<\/p>\n

    1. Connect to your server as root via an SSH connection<\/a>.<\/li>\n
    2. Run the following command:\n

      \/usr\/local\/cpanel\/bin\/rebuild_phpconf \u2013available<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      You should see the following output after running that command:<\/p>\n

      root@localhost ~ $ \/usr\/local\/cpanel\/bin\/rebuild_phpconf --available \nea-php56: cgi dso<\/span> none<\/pre>\n

      Set DSO as PHP Handler<\/h2>\n
      Once you have confirmed that the DSO handler is installed and available on your server, you can proceed to enable it from the Command Line Interface (CLI) or Web Host Manager (WHM).<\/p>\n
      Via CLI<\/h3>\n
        \n
      1. Connect to your server as root via an SSH connection<\/a>.<\/li>\n
      2. Run the following command, replacing \u2018##\u2019 with PHP version number DSO was installed for (e.g. for PHP 5.6 \u2018\u2013ea-php56=dso\u2019):\n
        \/usr\/local\/cpanel\/bin\/rebuild_phpconf \u2013ea-php##=dso<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
        Via WHM<\/h3>\n

        2. \"WHM<\/a>Type \u2018multiphp<\/strong>\u2018 into the search field in the top left of WHM.\n

        4. \"MultiPHP<\/a>Click on the PHP Handlers<\/strong> tab.\n
