Splitting up your domains between multiple cPanel accounts can allow you to provide cPanel access to a website owner to eliminate their access to your cPanel user\u2019s other domains. As well as many other benefits, this also provides better statistics for identifying resource usage and traffic trends. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Luckily, splitting up domains is made simple using the Convert Addon Domain to Account <\/strong>tool located in the Transfers<\/em> section of WHM. This guide contains the steps to use this tool for splitting up the cPanel account\u2019s addon domain, including the databases, directory files, SSL Certificate, as well as, FTP and email accounts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NOTE:<\/b> Although resellers have access to WHM, this tool is only available with root access. Root access can be obtained<\/a> for VPS and Dedicated Server plans. For resellers, you can follow the instructions in our guide on how to split up a cPanel account<\/a>.<\/div>\n\n\n\n

How to Convert an Addon Domain to an Account<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
  1. \"cPanel<\/a>Create a full cPanel backup<\/a> of the account that contains the domain that you are attempting to split.<\/span>

  2. \"WHM<\/a>Log into WHM<\/a> as <\/span>root<\/b>.<\/span>
    \u00a0<\/div> <\/li>
  3. \"WHMType \u201c<\/span>convert<\/em>\u201d into the search field to the left.<\/span><\/a>
    \u00a0<\/div> <\/li>
  4. \"ConvertClick on <\/span>Convert Addon Domain to Account<\/strong> under the <\/span>Transfers<\/em> section.<\/span><\/a>

  5. \"AddonClick the <\/span>Convert<\/strong> icon next to your addon domain.<\/span><\/a>

  7. \"Selection<\/a> Under Selection Details for \u201cexample.net\u201d<\/em> confirm that the addon domain\u2019s details are selected for what you would like moved to the new cPanel account. For our example, all the details were selected correctly, except for the website\u2019s databases.<\/span>

    Depending on how large the account is, you may see it complete in a few moments. Otherwise, the status will update once the conversion is completed. During the conversion process, we recommend avoiding making any further changes to the accounts.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
