As a dedicated server<\/a> account owner, you can control almost everything on your server. One of the more important things you will need to monitor is the version of your cPanel and WHM software. This article will discuss how to configure your server for update handling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Note:<\/strong> You must have root access<\/a> to follow these directions.<\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Configuring Update Preferences<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

  1. Log into your WHM interface<\/a>.

    Look at the left-hand side panel and click on the Server Configuration<\/strong> category.<\/p>

    Then click the Update Preferences<\/strong> option.<\/p>

    You are taken to the Update Preferences<\/em> page. First, set your cPanel & WHM Updates<\/em>.<\/p>






    Release Tier<\/th>
    		Select the tier to upgrade the server to. It is recommended to use the \u2018RELEASE\u2019 option as it is stable for a production environment.<\/td>

    Daily Updates<\/th>
    		Set to Automatic<\/em>, Manual<\/em>, or Never<\/em>.<\/td>

    Staging Directory<\/th>
    		This is the directory that is used to store updates before they are applied. While you can change it, the default is usr\/local\/cpanel<\/em>.<\/td>

    Available Partitions<\/th>
    		Select a partition if there are more than one. The path is in the Directory<\/em> text box.<\/td>
