These tools can help reduce the number of spam emails you and your hosting clients receive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are some best practices you can share with your customers:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Be careful who you share your email address with<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be mindful of services that ask for your email address<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Consider using a different email address for certain services<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be mindful of publishing your email address on your website. Avoid the mailto tag and use an image instead of text. This can reduce spammers\u2019 abilities to scrape the email address.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"enable-spam-assassin\">Enabling Apache SpamAssassin<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em>SpamAssassin<\/em> comes pre-installed with your cPanel account. You can access the <em>SpamAssassin<\/em> tool under the <em>Email<\/em> section of your cPanel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here is how you can enable SpamAssassin:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"article_list wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"\/support\/edu\/cpanel\/how-to-log-into-cpanel\/\">Log into cPanel<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"\/support\/images\/stories\/reseller\/spam-manage\/01-click-spamassassin.png\" rel=\"lightbox-0\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"std_ss\" style=\"float: right; margin: 0px 15px 15px 15px;\" src=\"\/support\/images\/stories\/reseller\/spam-manage\/01-click-spamassassin.png\" alt=\"Apache SpamAssassin icon\"><\/a>Under <em>Email<\/em> choose <strong>Apache SpamAssassin<\/strong>\n<div style=\"clear: both;\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"\/support\/images\/stories\/reseller\/spam-manage\/Selection_005.png\" rel=\"lightbox-0\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/support\/images\/stories\/reseller\/spam-manage\/Selection_005.png\" alt=\"Enable Apache SpamAssassin button\"><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"clear: both;\">\u00a0<\/div>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"article_list wp-block-list\">\n<li>In the SpamAssassin interface click the <strong>Enable Apache SpamAssassin<\/strong> button\n<div style=\"clear: both;\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"using-the-spamassassin-auto-delete-feature\">Using the SpamAssassin Auto-Delete Feature<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>SpamAssassin can mark spam messages with special indicators based on content. If a subject or body of an email looks suspicious, SpamAssassin will mark it. A message can receive as little as 1 mark or up to 10 marks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can instruct SpamAssassin to automatically delete messages with a certain score. For example, you can tell SpamAssassin to delete messages with a score of 3 or more. This is fairly aggressive considering some legitimate messages may receive a 1 or 2. <em>The higher the score the more spam will be automatically deleted.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can think of this process like a game of golf: the player with the highest score loses. Likewise, an email with a high spam score is more likely to be caught by SpamAssassin and deleted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Make sure to click the <strong>Auto-Delete Spam<\/strong> button to enable automatic deletion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"enabling-the-spam-box\">Enabling the Spam Box<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are hesitant to automatically delete any messages without review you can enable the Spam Box.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Spam Box feature creates a mail folder called <em>spam<\/em> in your account. If enabled, this box will fill up with messages that SpamAssassin has labeled and marked as spam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This way you can review these messages before deleting them. Or, if someone says they emailed you and you didn\u2019t receive the message, you can check your Spam Box for it. You must make sure <a href=\"\/support\/email\/checking-the-spam-folder-by-spam-box\/\">subscribe to the spam folder<\/a> in your favorite email client.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"global-email-filters\">Global Email Filters<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>cPanel also has a Global Email Filters program you can use to block specific email patterns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How to set up filters:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"article_list wp-block-list\">\n<li>Log into <a href=\"\/support\/edu\/cpanel\/how-to-log-into-cpanel\/\">cPanel<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"\/support\/images\/stories\/reseller\/spam-manage\/01-click-global-filters.png\" rel=\"lightbox-0\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"std_ss\" style=\"float: right; margin: 0px 15px 15px 15px;\" src=\"\/support\/images\/stories\/reseller\/spam-manage\/01-click-global-filters.png\" alt=\"Global Email Filters icon\" \"=\"\"><\/a>Under the <em>Email<\/em> section choose <strong>Global Email Filters<\/strong>\n<div style=\"clear: both;\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"\/support\/images\/stories\/reseller\/spam-manage\/Selection_027.png\" rel=\"lightbox-0\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"std_ss\" style=\"float: right; margin: 0px 15px 15px 15px;\" src=\"\/support\/images\/stories\/reseller\/spam-manage\/Selection_027.png\" alt=\"blue Create a New Filter button\"><\/a>Under <em>Create Filter<\/em> click <strong>Create a New Filter<\/strong>\n<div style=\"clear: both;\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"\/support\/images\/stories\/reseller\/spam-manage\/Selection_028.png\" rel=\"lightbox-0\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"std_ss\" style=\"float: right; margin: 0px 15px 15px 15px;\" src=\"\/support\/images\/stories\/reseller\/spam-manage\/Selection_028.png\" alt=\"Filter name input\"><\/a>Give your filter a unique name\n<div style=\"clear: both;\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"\/support\/images\/stories\/reseller\/spam-manage\/Selection_029.png\" rel=\"lightbox-0\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"std_ss\" style=\"float: right; margin: 0px 15px 15px 15px;\" src=\"\/support\/images\/stories\/reseller\/spam-manage\/Selection_029.png\" alt=\"Filter Rules options\"><\/a>Apply rules for this new filter\n<div style=\"clear: both;\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Use your filter rules wisely according to your needs. You can specify your filter by sender, any recipient, subject, or Body content. Likewise, you can determine how the above specifications are filtered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For example, if you want to block emails with subject lines that contain \u201cA Special Offer For You\u201d you can configure your rule thus:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"\/support\/images\/stories\/reseller\/spam-manage\/Selection_006.png\" rel=\"lightbox-0\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/support\/images\/stories\/reseller\/spam-manage\/Selection_006.png\" alt=\"complete filter example\"><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"clear: both;\">\u00a0<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to the <em>Rules<\/em>, you can apply <em>Actions<\/em>. These actions will determine the final destination of a spam message.
