In this guide, we will go over how to install python 2.7 on your server. This guide requires you to be logged into the servers command line interface as the root user.<\/p>\n

Note:<\/b> You must have root access<\/a> to your server to complete this guide. InMotion allows root access on all VPS Hosting<\/a> and Dedicated Hosting<\/a> plans.<\/div>\n

Installing Python 2.7<\/h2>\n
    \n
  1. Log into your server via the root user.\n
    <\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  2. Install all of the requirements via yum.\n
    yum -y install gcc gdbm-devel readline-devel ncurses-devel zlib-devel bzip2-devel sqlite-devel db4-devel openssl-devel tk-devel bluez-libs-devel make <\/span><\/div>\n
    <\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  3. Run the commands in the following order to prevent any errors.\n
    cd \/usr\/src
    \nwget https:\/\/www.python.org\/ftp\/python\/2.7.8\/Python-2.7.8.tgz
    \ntar xvfz Python-2.7.8.tgz
    \ncd Python-2.7.8
    \n.\/configure \u2013with-threads \u2013enable-shared
    \nmake
    \nmake altinstall<\/span><\/div>\n
    <\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  4. After the make altinstall command is complete run the next set of commands to finish the installation.\n
    touch \/etc\/ld.so.conf.d\/usrlocallib.conf
    \necho \u201c\/usr\/local\/lib\/\u201d >> \/etc\/ld.so.conf.d\/usrlocallib.conf
    \nldconfig
    \ncd \/usr\/src
    \nwget https:\/\/pypi.python.org\/packages\/2.7\/s\/setuptools\/setuptools-0.6c11-py2.7.egg
    \nsh setuptools-0.6c11-py2.7.egg
    \neasy_install pip
    \npip install virtualenv<\/span><\/div>\n
