In this tutorial, we will show you how perform a manual installation of Joomla 3.5<\/a>. This allows you to setup and begin building your website with the latest version of Joomla.<\/p>\n

At the time this article was written, Joomla 3.5 was only availabe as a beta release.<\/div>\n

Manually Installing Joomla 3.5<\/h2>\n
    \n
  1. Download Joomla 3.5 from the official download<\/a> page.<\/li>\n
  2. Create a MySQL database in your Control Panel (cPanel)<\/a>. Be sure to save the database name for later use.<\/li>\n
  3. Create a database user, and attach the user to the database you just created. Save the database username and password you setup in this step.<\/li>\n
  4. Upload<\/a> the .zip<\/strong> file to your server.<\/li>\n
  5. Uncompress the zip file to the location you want your Joomla 3.5 site to be installed. For more information of your file structure, see our full guide How to find the Document Root for your website \/ What directory should I put my files in?<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  6. In a browser navigate to the location of the Joomla files. In my test I am going to example.com since I uploaded the files to the \u201cpublic_html\u201d folder. You should see the \u201cMain Configuration<\/em>\u201d page for Joomla.

  7. Fill in the fields with your information, then click the Next<\/strong> button. Below is is a description of the available fields provided by Joomla:

    Field<\/th>\nDescription<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n
    Select Language<\/td>\nClick the drop-down box to select a language for your Joomla installation.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Site Name<\/td>\nEnter the name of your Joomla! site.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Description<\/td>\nEnter a description of the overall Web site that is to be used by search engines. Generally, a maximum of 20 words is optimal.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Admin Email<\/td>\nEnter an email address. This will be the email address of the Web site Super Administrator.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Admin Username<\/td>\nSet the username for your Super Administrator account.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Admin Password<\/td>\nSet the password for your Super Administrator account and confirm it in the field below.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Confirm Admin Password<\/td>\nEnter your Admin Password again here.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Site Offline<\/td>\nSet the site frontend offline when installation is completed. The site can be set online later on through the Global Configuration.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/li>\n
  8. You will then be on the Database Configuration<\/em> page. Fill in the fields with your Database information. Below is a description of the available fields along with the recommended settings:

    Database Type<\/td>\nThis is probably \u201cMySQLi\u201d.<\/td>\nMySQLi<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Host Name<\/td>\nThis is usually \u201clocalhost\u201d<\/td>\nlocalhost<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Username<\/td>\nEither something as \u201croot\u201d or a username given by the host.<\/td>\nEnter your database username here. Such as: example_jom<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Password<\/td>\nFor site security using a password for the database account is mandatory.<\/td>\nfdsaf<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Database Name<\/td>\nSome hosts allow only a certain DB name per site. Use table prefix in this case for distinct Joomla! sites.<\/td>\nEnter your Database password, be sure it is strong<\/strong><\/a>.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Table Prefix<\/td>\nChoose a table prefix or use the randomly generated. Ideally, three or four characters long, contain only alphanumeric characters, and MUST end in an underscore. Make sure that the prefix chosen is not used by other tables.<\/td>\nThere will be a prefix randomly generated, such as this: jre83_<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Old DatabaseProcess<\/td>\nAny existing backup tables from former Joomla! installations will be replaced.<\/td>\nChoose if you want to backup, or remove backup tables from older Joomla installations. Since this is a new installation, I chose Remove.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/li>\n
  9. You will then be on the Finalization<\/em> page.

    Choose if you want Sample Data installed. Options are: None, Blog, Brochure, Default, Learn Joomla, or Test.<\/p><\/li>\n

  10. Next to Email Configuration<\/em> select Yes<\/strong> to send the configuration settings to your Admin Email<\/em> address, or No<\/strong> if you do not need the email.<\/li>\n
  11. Click the Install<\/strong> button.<\/li>\n
  12. When you see a \u201cCongratulations! Joomla! is now installed<\/em>\u201d message, click the Remove installation folder<\/strong> button.
