This problem occurs when folders for the Drafts, Sent, Junk, or Trash mailbox are not assigned. This error most commonly occurs when deleting messages and the Trash mailbox has not been assigned, but happens whenever messages are moved without the folders being assigned. Here\u2019s a screenshot of the error:<\/p>\n<p> <a href=\"\/support\/images\/stories\/fix-apple-mail-folders\/moving-mail-error.png\" rel=\"lightbox-0\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"center\" alt=\"Apple Mail error when moving messages\" class=\"std_ss\" src=\"\/support\/images\/stories\/fix-apple-mail-folders\/moving-mail-error.png\" width=\"200\"><\/a><\/p>\n<div style=\"clear:both;\"><\/div>\n<h2>Fixing the Error with Moving Messages in Apple Mail<\/h2>\n<p>In order to use these instructions, you will need to have added an email account into the Apple Mail client.<\/p>\n<ol class=\"article_list\">\n<li>Log into the Apple Mail Client.<\/li>\n<li> <a href=\"\/support\/images\/stories\/fix-apple-mail-folders\/choose-folder-for-mailbox-assign.png\" rel=\"lightbox-0\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"right\" alt=\"choose folder\" class=\"std_ss\" src=\"\/support\/images\/stories\/fix-apple-mail-folders\/choose-folder-for-mailbox-assign.png\" style=\"float: right; margin: 0px 0px 15px 15px;\" width=\"200\"><\/a>\n<div style=\"clear:both;\"><\/div>\n<p>Scroll down to your newly added mail account.  Click on the drop-arrow to see the Drafts, Sent, Junk, and Trash folders, then click on the Drafts folder to highlight it.<\/p>\n<div style=\"clear:both;\"><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li> <a href=\"\/support\/images\/stories\/mac-mail-folder-assign\/choose-drafts-folder.png\" rel=\"lightbox-0\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"right\" alt=\"Choose drafts folder\" class=\"std_ss\" src=\"\/support\/images\/stories\/mac-mail-folder-assign\/choose-drafts-folder.png\" style=\"float: right; margin: 0px 0px 15px 15px;\" width=\"200\"><\/a>\n<div style=\"clear:both;\"><\/div>\n<p>In the Menu at the top of the screen, click on <b>Mailbox<\/b>, then scroll down to <b>Use This Mailbox As<\/b>, then click on the <b>Drafts Mailbox<\/b>.  This will assign the Drafts folder in the client to the corresponding server folder.  <\/p>\n<div style=\"clear:both;\"><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>Repeat this action for all of your folders (Sent, Junk, and Trash), and make sure to click on the respective folder assignment.
