Creating a network drive allows you to connect to your hosting account and manage your files similar to how you manage local files and folders on your computer. For example, you can easily drag and drop files to upload them, delete files, etc.<\/p>\n

This article references a username and password, which is your FTP username and password. If you\u2019re unfamiliar with FTP, you can find more information in our FTP Getting Started Guide<\/a>.<\/p>\n

To create a Network Drive in Windows 7:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Click your Start Menu and then click \u201cComputer\u201d<\/li>\n
  2. Find and click the button at the top labeled \u201cMap Network Drive\u201d
    \n    \"click-map-network-drive\"<\/a>\n

  3. Click the link that says, \u201cConnect to a website that you can use to store your documents and pictures\u201d<\/li>\n
  4. Click \u201cNext\u201d to the introduction screen<\/li>\n
  5. Click the option that says, \u201cChoose a custom network location\u201d and then click \u201cNext\u201d<\/li>\n
  6. At \u201cInternet or Network Address\u201d, enter ftp:\/\/example.com (be sure to replace example.com with your actual domain), and click \u201cNext\u201d<\/li>\n
  7. Uncheck the option to \u201cLog on Anonymously\u201d and enter your FTP user as the username (which is your cPanel username), then click \u201cNext\u201d<\/li>\n
  8. Type in a name to reference your network location and then click \u201cNext\u201d<\/li>\n
  9. Click Finish<\/li>\n
  10. From here you can now click on your Start Menu and then click Computer. Under \u201cNetwork Location\u201d you should see the shortcut we\u2019ve just created.

  11. After you double click to open the network location, you will be prompted for your ftp password. Enter it here and then click \u201cLog On\u201d<\/li>\n
  12. After you have connected, you should see a folder open with a listing of all the files on your hosting account. The functionality will be very similar to what you can do when you open folders on your local computer.
