In this tutorial we will show you how to install VirtueMart 3<\/a> in Joomla<\/strong> 3. After installing VirtueMart 3 we will complete the setup by enabling Database Update Tools, and setting up a Safe folder path. You can then begin creating an e-commerce website, using this powerful shopping cart software.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

Installing VirtueMart 3<\/h2>\n
    \n
  1. Install Joomla 3 using Softaculous<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  2. Download the VirtueMart 3<\/a> core and AIO file. At the time this article was written, the file is titled com_virtuemart.3.0.0_extract_first.zip<\/strong>.
    \n    \"Acquire<\/a>\n
    <\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  3. Extract<\/a> the file you downloaded in Step 1<\/strong> to your computer, it will contain 2 files.<\/li>\n
  4. Login to the Joomla 3 Dashboard<\/a>. Click Extensions<\/strong>, then Extension Manager<\/strong>.

  5. You will then be on the Upload & Install Joomla Extension<\/em> page. Click the Choose File<\/strong> button, select the core file (com_virtuemart.3.0.0.tar.gz<\/strong>), then click the Upload & Install<\/strong> button. See the steps in the screenshot below:

  6. Scroll down and click the Choose File<\/strong> button again. This time select the aio<\/em> file (com_virtuemart.3.0.0_ext_aio.tar.gz<\/strong>), then click the Upload & Install<\/strong> button. The image below shows you the steps to take.

    You are finished when you see a message stating \u201cInstalling component was successful<\/em>.\u201d<\/p><\/li>\n

  7. Optional:<\/strong> Click the Install Sample Data<\/strong> button, to include example products and store information. This can be helpful when you are learning to use VirtueMart 3 for the first time.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    How to Enable Database Update tools in VirtueMart 3<\/h2>\n

    After installing VirtueMart 3, you will want to Enable database Update tools<\/strong>, which allows you to utilize the tools included with VirtueMart 3. We will now show you how to Enable Database update<\/strong> tools in VirtueMart.<\/p>\n

    1. Login to the Joomla 3 Admin Dashboard<\/a>.<\/li>\n
    2. In the navigation menu click VirtueMart<\/strong>, then Configuration<\/strong>.

    3. Scroll down to the Advanced Settings<\/em> section, and click the box next to Enable database Update tools<\/strong>.

      Setting the Safe Path in VirtueMart 3<\/h2>\n

      After installing VirtueMart 3, you will see the following message: \u201cWarning, the Safe Path is empty, for safety reasons it is very important to create a folder in a path not accessible by an URL, create also a folder invoices in it to store your sensitive data secure<\/em>.\u201d We will now show you how to set the Safe Path<\/strong> in VirtueMart 3.<\/p>\n

      1. Create a folder<\/a> titled vmfiles<\/strong> in the \/home<\/em> directory. Make sure the permissions<\/a> on the vmfiles<\/em> folder is set to 777<\/strong>. Then, create another folder titled invoices<\/strong> inside the vmfiles<\/em> folder. When you are finished, it should be structured like this: home\/userna99\/vmfiles\/invoices\/
