When creating \/ editing pages<\/a> in Drupal 8, you\u2019ll see a feature labelled, Create new revision<\/strong>. In this tutorial, we\u2019ll review what this feature is and how to use it.<\/p>\n

What does the create new revision<\/em> feature do?<\/h2>\n

Each time you edit a page in Drupal 8, you have the option to create a new revision of the page. When you do this, Drupal will save a copy of the previous version of the page. You can switch back to these older versions of the page at any time.<\/p>\n

How to create a new revision<\/h3>\n

    Click the checkbox for Create new revision<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

    When creating \/ editing content, on the right side of the editor you\u2019ll see a section that begins with Last saved<\/em>, and shortly under that you\u2019ll see a checkbox for Create new revision<\/em> \u2013 check this box.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  2. \n

    Enter a description for the change<\/strong><\/p>\n

    After clicking Create new revision<\/em>, you\u2019ll see a text box appear below. In this area, type in a brief description to remind yourself of the changes that were made.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  3. \n

    Save the page<\/strong><\/p>\n

    After you\u2019ve entered a description for the revision, click the Save and publish<\/strong> button towards the bottom left of the editor.<\/p>\n

    That\u2019s it, you\u2019ve just created a new revision! The only message you\u2019ll see after saving is the standard, \u201cBasic page Lorem Ipsum 2 has been created.\u201d<\/em> \u2013 you will not see<\/em> a message regarding a new revision.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    How do I view \/ restore previous revisions?<\/h3>\n

    1. \"Revisions<\/a>\n
      <\/div>\n

      Click Revisions<\/strong><\/p>\n

      When editing an article, click the Revisions<\/strong> tab in the top right.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    2. \n

      Find the revision you want to restore<\/strong><\/p>\n

      After you\u2019ve clicked Revisions<\/em>, you\u2019ll see a list of previous revisions that you\u2019ve saved. You need to identify the revision that you want to restore. You can do this by:
      * reviewing the timestamp on each revision
      * clicking on the timestamp itself to view the page as it will be if restored
      * looking at the revision note<\/em> that you previously added <\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      Click Revert<\/em> to restore the revision<\/strong><\/p>\n

      Under each revision, you\u2019ll see a menu that says Revert<\/strong>. Click Revert<\/em> next to the revision of your choice. You\u2019ll be asked:
      \u201cAre you sure you want to revert to the revision from\u2026\u201d<\/em>
      Click Revert<\/em> to continue.<\/p>\n

      When the revision has been restored, you\u2019ll then see a message that says:
