Then click on <strong>Akeeba Backup<\/strong>. Here you can manage the backups that have been made with Akeeba. You can also <a href=\"\/support\/website\/creating-your-first-akeeba-backup\/\" target=\"new\" rel=\"noopener\">create a backup from this point<\/a>. You should know these items <em>BEFORE<\/em> you restore your backup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"background-color: #fafad2; border: 1px #D3D3D3 dashed; border-radius: 5px; padding: 5px; margin-top: 20px;\">\n<p>Caution: Be aware of the version of Joomla you are restoring; may require a specific version of PHP (for example: Joomla 1.5 requires PHP 5.2).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Are you restoring over top of an existing Joomla installation? The simplest restore using Akeeba is to replace the existing installation without changing any of the settings.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Do you know the database user and password? If you are moving the database to a new host, then you will need to makes sure the user name and password meet the host\u2019s requirements.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Do you know the Admin password? The Super settings require that you enter the password<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Directory location (only if the restore is occurring in a differen directory)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Did you download Kickstart from Akeeba?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you are working in different language, you will need the language file included with the Kickstart files.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"article_list wp-block-list\">\n<li>Obtain your backup file from Akeeba and make sure that it\u2019s at the root of the directory where you are going to restore it. If you\u2019re restoring over top of another installation, then the compressed file should be in root directory of the Joomla installation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Copy your <strong>KICKSTART.PHP<\/strong> file into the directory where you are restoring the backup. If you\u2019re working in a different language, make sure to also copy the corresponding language file(s).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Run the URL based on the Kickstart file and location. For example: https:\/\/domain_name.com\/joomla-backup-folder\/kickstart.php. You will see a warning screen labeled \u201cThings you should know about Akeeba Kickstart.\u201d Make sure that your backup is in the same folder as the kickstart file. Please make sure to read through the warnings.<br><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.inmotionhosting.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/edu_akeeba-restore_akeeba-kickstart.png\" alt=\"Akeeba Kickstart notes\"><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on ESC or the link to close the message.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You should see the <strong>ANGIE<\/strong> (Akeeba Next Generation Installer Engine) Pre-installation check running before you start the restoration. Once you review all of the settings here, click on the blue button that labeled NEXT.<br><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.inmotionhosting.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/edu_akeeba-restore_akeeba-backup-restore-start-1.png\" alt=\"ANGIE - Akeeba Next Generation Installer Engine\"><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The next step is the <strong>DATABASE RESTORATION<\/strong> phase. You will see all of the setting for the database that you can change here. Make sure these setting match with your current restore. If you\u2019re restoring an Akeeba database from a different host, then you need to double-check the name conventions used by the host for their databases. You might need to change them. For example, InMotion Hosting uses database names that start with the account user name: username5_databasename or username5_dbusername.<br><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.inmotionhosting.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/edu_akeeba-restore_akeeba-restore-2.png\" alt=\"Database restoration settings\">\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once you have reviewed your DB settings, click on <strong>NEXT<\/strong> in order to proceed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When the database restoration is complete, you will see a confirmation of this. Click on the green button labeled <strong>NEXT STEP<\/strong>.<br><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.inmotionhosting.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/edu_akeeba-restore_database-restore-success.png\" alt=\"Database Restore successful\"><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The next phase of the restoration is called <strong>SITE SETTINGS<\/strong>. Again, as in the database section, you need to make sure that your user name, password and other site settings are setup the way you want them. This section is where you would change the directory settings if they are different from the previous installation when you did the backup. Click on the blue <strong>NEXT<\/strong> button to continue.<br><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.inmotionhosting.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/edu_akeeba-restore_akeeba-restore-3-after-db.png\" alt=\"Site Settings\"><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You will then get a completion screen with a warning reminding you of the possible differences if you\u2019re moving a restoration between servers. Click on the remove installation folder.<br><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.inmotionhosting.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/edu_akeeba-restore_akeeba-restore-completed-final.png\" alt=\"Restoration warnings\">\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You will then see a screen labeled \u201c6- Restoration and Clean Up.\u201d Click on the green button.<br><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.inmotionhosting.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/edu_akeeba-restore_akeeba-kickstart-cleanup.png\" alt=\"Akeeba Restoration and Clean Up\">\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your restore is now complete! The last screen allows you to view the front end and backend of the site in order to see if it\u2019s working.
