Shell access<\/a> is enabled by default on our Shared Hosting<\/a> Accounts, VPS<\/a> and Dedicated servers<\/a>. When you try to SSH into your server<\/a> and you get the following error: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shell access is not enabled on your account!
If you need shell access please contact support.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Your server may have SSH disabled by mistake. This can be fixed easily through your WHM. The following tutorial will explain how to enable shell access (SSH)<\/strong> on your server through the WHM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Enabling SSH through WebHost Manager (WHM)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
    \n
  1. Log into WHM<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Go to Account Functions<\/strong>.
    \"Account<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Select Modify Account<\/strong>.
    \"Modify<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Select the account to change and click Modify<\/strong>.
    \"Click<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Scroll down to the bottom of the page where it shows Shell Access check box<\/em>. Click the checkbox<\/strong>. Save<\/strong> the changes.

  6. To make SSH available for all the accounts, select the Update package<\/strong> radio button to apply the Shell Access change across all your cPanel accounts that are on the same package. Click Proceed<\/strong>.

    Now try accessing your server using SSH. With SSH enabled, you should have a login screen like the snapshot to the right.<\/p>\n<\/div>
