You also need to have <a href=\"\/support\/server\/ssh\/root-access-faq\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">root access<\/a> to your server as well.<\/p>\n<h2>POP3 vs IMAP<\/h2>\n<p><strong>POP3<\/strong> or the Post Office Protocol is the older of the two types of mail protocols, it\u2019s primarily used when users are connecting from a single device, and its default behaviour is to download all messages to the local user\u2019s computer and remove them from the server.<\/p>\n<p><strong>IMAP<\/strong> or the Internet Mail Access Protocol is a newer mail protocol, it\u2019s a good option when users are connecting from multiple devices and need to sync their mail on the server-side.
