The following article describes each option and its location within the PHP-Fusion interface.<\/p>\n<h2>Using the Security Options of PHP-Fusion<\/h2>\n<p><\/p>\n<h4>Captcha Settings<\/h4>\n<p>Captcha is used to secure forms(primarily the Contact Form) and User Registration within PHP-Fusion.  For more information using reCAPTCHA, please go to <a href=\"\/support\/edu\/php-fusion\/add-recaptcha\/\">300: Add ReCaptcha to PHP-Fusion<\/a>. Click on the drop-down menu to see the available options. The first two options are Captcha types (called <em>securimage<\/em> and <em>securimage2<\/em>) and the top option is called <em>Recaptcha<\/em>. By default, it is set to 15 seconds.  This interval of time is used to prevent automatic and repetitive entries into a forum causing a \u201cflood\u201d of entries.  Change the interval as per your website needs.\n<div style=\"clear:both;\"><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>Click on the drop-down for the next option called <strong>FLOOD AUTO BAN<\/strong>.  This option will automatically ban a member that is repeatedly adding multiple entries into your forums area. This is a YES\/NO option, but should only be set if you\u2019re having problems with spammers repeatedly hitting your website.  You should base your decision to use this option due to repeat problems with spam. Note that you can get false postives if you have users who are responding to each other repeatedly.\n<div style=\"clear:both;\"><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>Click on <strong>SAVE SETTINGS<\/strong> in order to save your entries.\n<div style=\"clear:both;\"><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p> <strong>Bad Words Filter <\/strong><\/p>\n<ol class=\"article_list\">\n<li><a href=\"\/support\/edu\/php-fusion\/login-admin-panel\/\">Login to the PHP-Fusion Admin Panel.<\/a>\n<div style=\"clear:both;\"><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>Click on the Admin Panel Link.\n<div style=\"clear:both;\"><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>Click on the <strong>SETTINGS<\/strong> tab.\n<div style=\"clear:both;\"><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>Scroll down to the <strong>BAD WORDS<\/strong> section<a href=\"\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/edu_php-fusion_security_security-icon.png\" rel=\"lightbox-0\"><\/a><a href=\"\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/edu_php-fusion_security_security-icon.png\" rel=\"lightbox-0\"><\/a><a href=\"\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/edu_php-fusion_security_security-icon.png\" rel=\"lightbox-0\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"right\" alt=\"Select the Security icon\" class=\"std_ss\" src=\"https:\/\/www.inmotionhosting.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/edu_php-fusion_security_security-icon.png\" style=\"float: right; margin: 0px 0px 15px 15px;\" width=\"200\"><\/a>\n<div style=\"clear:both;\"><\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div style=\"clear:both;\"><\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div style=\"clear:both;\"><\/div>\n<p>Click on the icon labeled <strong>SECURITY<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<div style=\"clear:both;\"><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>To enable the Bad Words Filter, click on the drop-down menu.  Select <strong>YES<\/strong> to activate and <strong>NO<\/strong> to turn the feature off.\n<div style=\"clear:both;\"><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>Click on the field and type in a word per line to define the words not permitted on your website. As per the instructions, make sure you are only adding one word per line.\n<div style=\"clear:both;\"><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>Click on the field for the next option called <strong>BAD WORD REPLACEMENT<\/strong>.  This is the pattern used to replace those words that are in your list.  If the word appears, then the pattern that you define here will replace the word.\n<div style=\"clear:both;\"><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>Click on <strong>SAVE SETTINGS<\/strong> to save  your entries.\n<div style=\"clear:both;\"><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><\/p>\n<h4>Maintenance Mode<\/h4>\n<p>The Maintenance Mode is a tool used to make the website unavailable except to a certain group of individuals.  The following table explains each setting: <\/p>\n<table class=\"article_table\">\n<tr>\n<th>Maintenance setting<\/th>\n<th>Explanation of setting<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Maintenance Level<\/td>\n<td>This drop-down menu lets you set who can still get into the website even though the site is in Maintenance mode. Only <em>Administrators<\/em>, <em>Super Administrators<\/em> and the <em>Site Owner<\/em> can get in.  <em><strong>NOTE: <\/strong>The <strong>SITE OWNER<\/strong> is defined in the <strong>SETTINGS&gt;MAIN<\/strong> section of the Admin panel. The field labeled <strong>YOUR NAME OR NICKNAME<\/strong> defines the owner. <\/em><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Maintenance Mode<\/td>\n<td><strong>OFF<\/strong> or <strong>ON<\/strong> option; enables or disables the maintenance mode<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Maintenance Message<\/td>\n<td>Enables you to put up a message to explain why the site is in Maintenance mode.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>This completes the tutorial on the <strong>default Security Settings<\/strong> within the PHP-Fusion Admin panel.
