Occasionally, the ecommerce plugin will not save to the Shopping cart products. When visiting the shopping cart after products are added, the site still says the cart is empty. This is caused by the Sessions save path (session.save_path in the <em>php.ini<\/em>) not being set to the correct directory.<\/p>\n<h2>Known issues with ecommerce plugins<\/h2>\n<p>This is a common issue with WordPress ecommerce plugins. The following plugins are known to have this issue:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>WP Ecommerce<\/li>\n<li>Woo Commerce<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Below will show you the steps to fix the sessions path in your cPanel File Manager.<\/p>\n<h2>Fixing the sessions problem<\/h2>\n<p>This sessions save path is a relatively easy fix. This can be done in the cPanel File Manager. To get the shopping cart to allow the products to add to the cart, you will need to fix the sessions path to the folder location on the server where the sessions ar stored.<\/p>\n<ol class=\"article_list\">\n<li><a href=\"\/support\/edu\/cpanel\/how-to-log-into-cpanel\/\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Click here for info\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Login into your cPanel<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"\/support\/edu\/cpanel\/using-file-manager-in-cpanel\/\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Click here for info\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Go to the File Manager<\/a>. Select the <em>Web Root<\/em> <em>public_html<\/em> directory and click Go.<\/li>\n<li>Find your <em>php.ini<\/em> and <a href=\"\/support\/website\/how-to-edit-a-file\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">edit<\/a> it.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/edu_wordpress_302_session-save-path.gif\" rel=\"lightbox-0\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"690\" height=\"357\" src=\"https:\/\/www.inmotionhosting.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/edu_wordpress_302_session-save-path.gif\" class=\"optimized-lcp-image\" alt=\"php.ini view of sessions path\" loading=\"eager\" fetchpriority=\"high\" sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\"><\/a>\n<div style=\"clear:both;\"><\/div>\n<p>You will need to change the \u201c<em>Sessions path<\/em>\u201d in the php.ini for the WordPress Shopping cart.<\/p>\n<p>Update the <em>php.ini<\/em> save path sits similar to the following.<\/p>\n<pre style=\"margin-left: 20px;\">session.save_path = \/tmp<\/pre>\n<p>Change the path to the following:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"margin-left: 20px;\">session.save_path = home\/username\/session foldername<\/pre>\n<p class=\"alert\"><strong>Note!<\/strong> You will need to create a folder in your \u201c<em>Home<\/em>\u201d directory. You will need to change the name from \u201c<em>foldername<\/em>\u201d to the name you want the folder to be and the\u201d <em>username<\/em>\u201d to your cPanel username.<\/p>\n<p>The folder must be <a href=\"\/support\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">writeable with 755 permissions<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Save the changes to your php.ini.<\/p>\n<p class=\"alert\"><strong>Note!<\/strong> You may need to <a href=\"\/support\/website\/recursive-php-ini\/\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Click here for info\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">make the <em>php.ini<\/em> recursive in the .htaccess<\/a> to see the changes take effect.<\/p>\n<p> <br style=\"clear: both;\"><\/p><\/li>\n<li>Test your ecommerce shopping cart again.
