When creating a blog within Movable Type, you have the ability to allow members to post comments. While you also have the ability to allow them to self-register, you may not want to enable this feature. This could be for security reasons or perhaps you want to make an invite-only, or exclusive group. In this case, you will need to create each user yourself from the admin dashboard. Below are the instructions for creating a new user in Movable Type.<\/p>\n

Creating a new user in Movable Type<\/h2>\n

  1. Log into your Movable Type admin interface<\/a>.\n
    <\/div>\n<\/li>\n

    <\/div>\n

    From the main interface screen, look to the top and you will see your profile information. Click on the Edit your Profile <\/strong>link.<\/p>\n

    This brings you to the Systems Overview<\/em> screen with your profile information. Look to the left menu and locate the Users category, then click on the New <\/strong>option.<\/p>\n

  4. This brings up the New User<\/em> registration screen. From here you will see the member information fields.\n
    <\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
    Username<\/th>\nThis is the members username that will be used to log in.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Display Name<\/th>\nThis is the name that will display publicly<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Email Address<\/th>\nThe member\u2019s email address.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Website URL<\/th>\nThe member\u2019s website address, if any.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Initial Password<\/th>\nThe member\u2019s new password. It must be at least 8 characters long<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Confirm Password<\/th>\nType the same password as the field above.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Language<\/th>\nSelect the member\u2019s preferred language.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Text Format<\/th>\nSet the default formatting filter.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Date Format<\/th>\nSet the default date formatting.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Tag Delimiter<\/th>\nSet the default tag separator.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Permissions<\/th>\nSet the user\u2019s permissions.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Options<\/th>\nCheck to create a personal blog for the user<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/li>\n
  5. Once you have entered the information in the fields, click the Create User <\/strong>button at the bottom to save the new member.\n
