Anytime an event occurs in Movable Type, it is noted within an activity log. \u00a0This log will capture errors as well as successful events such as a blog entry or page creation. \u00a0The following article explains where to find the Activity log and its available options within the Movable Type Dashboard.<\/div>\n

Understanding the Activity Log within Movable Type<\/h2>\n

Locating the Activity Log<\/h3>\n

    \n
  1. Login to the Movable Type<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  2. Scroll down the left hand side menu to the bottom and click on TOOLS<\/strong>. \u00a0At the bottom of the TOOLS<\/strong> menu you should see ACTIVITY LOG<\/strong>. \u00a0Click on ACTIVITY LOG<\/strong>.<\/li>\n

    When you enter the activity log, you will see a table listing the most recent events. \u00a0You can use the DISPLAY<\/strong> options (in the top right corner) to determine the number of events that will be listed. Click on DISPLAY OPTION<\/strong> in the top right hand corner.<\/p><\/li>\n

  4. You will see the option to show 25-200 rows fo results. \u00a0You also have the option of showing or hiding the IP ADDRESS<\/strong> column. \u00a0Uncheck the box to hide the column. \u00a0If you wish, click on the RESET DEFAULTS<\/strong> option at the bottom to start over.<\/li>\n
  5. Click on the DISPLAY OPTIONS<\/strong> drop-down arrow to close the display options.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
    \u00a0<\/div>\n

    Filtering the Error Messages\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

    1. \"Show<\/a>\n
      <\/div>\n

      While logged into the Dashboard, and in the ACTIVITY LOG<\/strong> section (as per the instructions above), click on ALL LOG MESSAGES<\/strong> (next to FILTER<\/strong>). \u00a0This will bring up the option select a filter. \u00a0You can create a new filter or select a built-in filter. \u00a0<\/p><\/li>\n

    2. Click on SHOW ONLY ERRORS<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    3. This will isolate only the error messages within the log, if there are any reported. In order to return to the original view, click on the red-lettered REMOVE FILTER<\/strong> option.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
      \u00a0<\/div>\n

      Clear or Download the Activity Log\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n
      \n
        \n
      1. Upon opening the Activity Log Page, the option to clear the log is located at the top of the interface. \u00a0The option will ask that you configure the action before actually clearing the log. Click on the CLEAR ACTIVITY LOG<\/strong> option in order to clear the log. \u00a0Click on YES<\/strong> to clear, or NO<\/strong> in order to cancel the action.<\/li>\n
      2. To the right of CLEAR ACTIVITY LOG<\/strong> is DOWNLOAD LOG (CSV)<\/strong>. \u00a0This option allows the user to select a download of the activity log in CSV format. \u00a0You will be prompted to confirm the download and detemine where the file will be saved.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
        \u00a0<\/div>\n

        Activity Feed\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n
        \n
          \n
        1. The final option available for the ACTIVITY LOG<\/strong> is the option to subscribe to an Activity Feed. \u00a0This is at the bottom of the page. \u00a0Click on ACTIVITY FEED<\/strong>. If you need more information on RSS (Really Simple Syndication), go to RSS Primer<\/em><\/a>.<\/li>\n
        2. You will see a typical RSS subscribe screen. \u00a0Anytime an activity occurs, you will get a feed update through your RSS reader. \u00a0This is illustrated in the screenshot below. You can use any RSS reader to subscribe to the feeds.\"Movable<\/a>\n
