Tags are a great tool to help find assets or pages within the Movable Type interface. \u00a0However, as your website pages multiply, you will find that it is critical to be able find and organize the many tags that will be added. \u00a0 Movable type provides two different areas where you can manage tags, within the assets interface and in the Tags section of the Movable Type dashboard. \u00a0The following article explains how to use both sections to filter, edit, and delete single or multiple tags within your Movable Type website.<\/div>\n

Finding, Editing, and Deleting Tags within Movable Type<\/h2>\n

Using the Asset Editor to Manage Tags<\/h3>\n

  1. Login to the Movable Type Dashboard.<\/a><\/li>\n
  2. Click on the website\/blog that you want to edit.<\/li>\n

    Scroll down the main menu on the left and select ASSETS<\/strong>. \u00a0You will see the Manage Assets screen appear on the right. \u00a0 <\/p>\n

Click on the name of the asset that contains the tag that you want to edit. \u00a0If you need to adjust the display of the items showing or want know more about filtering in the Movable Type interface, then click on Using the Movable Type Filtering Interface<\/em>. \u00a0The filtering options are available throughout the Movable Type dashboard and can help you locate individual items, or you can create custom filters to help you find specific groups of items. \u00a0<\/li>\n

    When you click on the asset name, you will see the EDIT ASSET\u00a0<\/strong>screen. \u00a0Scroll down the interface until you find the TAGS<\/strong> section. \u00a0Click on the field and edit or delete the tags listed there. \u00a0You can also add additional tags here. \u00a0Just remember to separate multiple tags with a comma.<\/p><\/li>\n

    After you have finished making your edits, deletions or additions, click on the SAVE CHANGES<\/strong> in the bottom left corner.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Using the Tags section to Manage Tags within Movable Type<\/h3>\n

    1. Login to the Movable Type Dashboard.<\/a><\/li>\n
    2. Click on the website\/blog that you want to edit.<\/li>\n
    3. Scroll down the menus on the left and click on TAGS<\/strong>.<\/li>\n

      You will see the MANAGE TAGS<\/strong> interface. \u00a0This can be a very long list of text if you have already have a lot of tags defined. \u00a0If you wish to find a specific tag or a group of tags, you can use the filter options to find it. \u00a0If you need more information on using the filter to find the tag, go to Using the Movable Type Filtering Interface<\/em>. \u00a0Click on the TAG\u00a0<\/strong>name to proceed.<\/p><\/li>\n

      In order to see the ASSET<\/strong> that is associated to the tag, look at the right side of the list of tags. \u00a0You will see two columns \u2013 PAGES<\/strong> and ASSETS<\/strong>. \u00a0If the tag is associated with a single or multiple PAGES<\/strong> or ASSETS<\/strong>, then the number is incremented per the relationship. \u00a0If you wish to see the PAGES<\/strong> or ASSETS<\/strong> associated with each tag, simply click on the number in either the page or assets column. The example screenshot at right shows an asset associated with a tag. \u00a0To return to the previous screen, click on the BACK<\/strong> button in your internet browser, or click on the TAGS\u00a0<\/strong>option in the left menu of the Movable Type administrator. <\/p>\n

      When you click on the TAG<\/strong> name the interface will change and immediately lets you edit the tag. \u00a0If you wish to change the name, click in the field and change the tag, then click on the RENAME<\/strong>. \u00a0Otherwise, click CANCEL<\/strong>to leave it unchanged. <\/p>\n

    7. In order to DELETE<\/strong> a single tag or multiple tags, simply click on the CHECKBOX<\/strong> next to the tag(s), then click on the DELETE<\/strong> button at the top or bottom of the interface. You will be prompted to confirm the deletion before it is committed.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
