When removing pages from your DokuWiki site<\/a>, you will need to set up a redirect to prevent users from getting 404 not fopund errors.\u00a0 Sometimes when users bookmark pages or when Google caches a removed page people will get 404 not found pages. In order to redirect a page, you will need to use a plugin called \u201cPage Redirect<\/em>\u201c. This article will explain how to install the \u201cPage Redirect<\/em>\u201d plugin and how to set up a redirect to a page that was removed.<\/p>\n

Installing the \u201cPage Redirect\u201d plugin<\/h2>\n

In order to make any redirects in DokuWiki, you will need to use the \u201cPage Redirect Plugin<\/em>\u201c. This section will give you the steps on how to install the \u201cPage Redirect Plugin<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

    Right click the download link and copy the Link location. <\/strong>(You can also click the download link and get the url from the browser.) The URL you get for the plugin should be the following:<\/p>\n

  3. Log into DokuWiki<\/a>.<\/strong>\n

    Click the Admin link<\/strong> at the top.<\/p>\n

    In the Administration Click Plugin Manager<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

    In the \u201cDownload and install a new plugin\u201d box, paste the url you obtained from the site in the text box. <\/p>\n

    Click Download.<\/strong><\/p>\n

    The Plugin should show as \u201cSuccessfully installed<\/em>\u201d and the Page Redirect plugin will be listed in the Installed plugins. <\/p>\n

    Now that the \u201cPage Redirect<\/em>\u201d plugin was successfully installed, you can now proceed to the next section to learn how to redirect the pages in DokuWiki.<\/p>\n

    Redirecting a removed page<\/h2>\n

    Redirecting pages in DokuWiki cannot be done without plugin code being inserted into the page that is being redirected. The following section will explain how to use the \u201cPage Redirect<\/em>\u201d plugin code for redirecting a\u00a0 removed page to an existing page.<\/p>\n

      Click the recent changes link<\/strong> at the top right side of your DokuWiki..

      On the Recent changes page, find the page you want to redirect. (In this case the \u201ccommunity_ideas<\/em>\u201d page will be redirected). <\/p>\n

      Select the Old Revisions link<\/strong> on the left that is the clock icon.

      On the right side, click the pencil<\/strong> to \u201cEdit this page.<\/em>\u201d

      The redirect code \u201cnamespace:page\u201d is an example. You will need to change the namespace name (If there is one) and the page name for the redirect to go to the correct page.
