Setting up spambot countermeasures in phpBB 3.0<\/h2>\n

  1. Log into your phpBB admin dashboard<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  2. From there, click on the General<\/strong> tab if the screen is not already focused on it.<\/li>\n
  3. From the General tab you will see the left hand sidebar that has several categories listed. Click on the Spambot Countermeasurs<\/strong> link found under the Board Configuration<\/em> category to continue.

  4. This leads you to the Spambot Countermeasures<\/em> settings screen. You can see the settings are divided into three sections. They are the General Options<\/em>, Available Plugins<\/em>, and Preview<\/em> sections.

    Enable spambot countermeasures for registrations<\/th>\nEnabling this option forces new users to complete an anti-spambot task.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Registration attempts:<\/th>\nThis setting is the maximum number of registration attempts that can be made before being locked out.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Maximum number of login attempts per username<\/th>\nThis is the maximum number of failed login attempts a user can make before the anti-spambot task is triggered.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Enable spambot countermeasures for guest postings<\/th>\nIf eneabled, all guest users must pass the anti-spambot task.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

    Background noise x-axis<\/th>\nThe lower the number used, the more noise in the background on the x-axis, making it harder to read. Setting it to 0 will disable x axis noise entirely.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Background noise y-axis<\/th>\nThe lower the number used, the more noise in the background for the y-axis, making it harder to read. Setting it to 0 will disable y axis noise entirely.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
